The point of the OP is not to rag on Finley, but to call out those who jumped to calling him the GOAT after one performance. That's worse for TJ than criticism.

, sure.

Like I said, the fact so many of you see this as a silver lining to the asswhipping we took is telling, but not shocking.

“Finley struggled quite a bit, I can’t wait to go celebrate the struggles on TD”

He made some plays and looked relatively comfortable until the interception. Then he and E lost the plot after that. It was unfortunate because we were gonna score on that drive.

Someone gets it. Very very poor decision making. Thinking he can force the ball, even after making multiple mistakes. Playing on emotion not intellect. These type QB’s have provided LSU with some heartbreaking seasons. I hope we don’t repeat the same mistakes again because it will cost us a head coach waaaaay quicker than the Miles debacle. Last year was a shining example of what a smart QB can do. Hopefully we have learned that lesson. Give TJ some extensive support and education on what not to do with the ball and he will probably be just fine. Athletic abilities are not always the most important factor to consider. Until then use the smartest qb we have. When this young team gets down by 14 or more points they are folding emotionally.

I'm not panicking on Finley. He has tons of ability.
He is a freshman and is not capable of carrying this team, yet. He shouldn't have to.

The team was flat yesterday, and when they got behind they quit. TJ Finley looked fine up until the point that he threw that first interception, and it just looked like his team left him on an island after that. No blocking, no one getting open, dropping passes, defense quit playing.

So everybody is to blame BUT Finley! TJ completed 13 of 24 attempts, had 2 interceptions (one a pick 6) gave up a fumble recovery for another Auburn TD and a QBR of 20.5. Max was 15 of 24 for 172 yards 1 TD and no interceptions and a QB rating of 34.3. If Brennan is not ready for Alabama, Max has earned the start.

TJ and MAx both looked good at times but they need more experience. Myles with a good running game gives us our best chance of having 5-5 season, which is what we should strive for the remainder of the season.

I didn't say everyone BUT Finley was to blame, but I'm not the least bit surprised that on this board full of children, that someone would jump to such a dumb conclusion. He made his mistakes. But he also had ZERO help. ZERO. No one was open, no one could catch, and no one could block. What hope was there for Finley?

As for Max, everything he did was in garbage time. Only the newest of newbie football fans don't know how to discern garbage time stats from other stats. And that's not a knock on Max. He did would he could on short notice. But there is no way to glean anything from garbage time stats.

Finley made two mistakes. Unfortunately, they were both very costly. The second pick was tipped at the line into the air. That's not a "mistake", it's a fluke play. The team absolutely quit after the fumble return. It wouldn't have mattered who was in the game.

Brennan was always going to be the starter when he's healthy again. But do I think Finley is a lesser QB? No. I think he's a freshman who went out there with confidence, took a couple lumps for the first time, and saw his team collapse. Joe Burrow had some awful moments his first year here, as well. But this board was just all too eager to point and laugh at Finley and anyone who spoke highly of him. It's pathetic.

Well, they did beat Auburn by 8, so they weren't completely terrible. But LSU always seems to blast South Carolina. Finley will be a good QB, but when you're a freshman on the road making freshman mistakes and your rushing game averages less than 2 yards per carry, you're going to have a tough time.

I laugh at all you morons who thought Finley was better than Brennan and should start over him.

Max hasn’t earned anything either. Jesus some of you’re are blind.

Max hit on a deep ball when Auburn’s second or third strong was in. Otherwise he was more inaccurate than Finley was.

Elite? Really? We'll agree to disagree on this assessment.

OHHHHHH ok. So when Brennan faces the same problems it doesn’t matter, because all I heard was how a QB “makes the oline better”, “he throws a more catchable ball”. Apparently when Myles faces the same thing and puts up huge numbers it’s irrelevant.

I love how people don’t want to rewatch all the missed throws too. He had WIDE OPEN receivers who he just missed completely; he had guys drop passes bc he threw it 100mph behind them. It’s not just one bad throw. But y’all can’t come on here after claiming some BS like “the threat of TJ running the ball is what opens up the run game” and then turn around and blame the oline.

There might be a small percentage who fit the first category but for the people “defending” him, eat this crow. 90% of those “defending” him were just attacking Brennan for exactly what TJ just went through.

yes... but being we don't have an offensive line that can protect either one, nor any semblance of a running game, it really doesn't matter....

This should not be who should play QB. It should be about the coaching staff NOT having this team even ready to play yesterday... they were flat and showed zero passion for even wanting to be there.... the defense is a joke... (because of coaching) the offense can’t block for the run or pass( also a coaching problem). I doubt we win yesterday even with a healthy Myles.

He will be, and if you think the game is different with Brennan yesterday, you are quite frankly a moron
