I've been on many a traveling Tigers LSU road game trips. The AA staff has always really gone above and beyond in making sure those traveling have a good time. That being said, there was always an unstated something about the staff's feelings about Charlie Roberts. They obviously knew about his conduct but never knew how to deal with in in a manner that preserved their relatively cush jobs.

Not that I am donating huge dollars to the AA - I am sure I give about $1000/year or so - but I am not going to give any dollars if those charged with governance knew about this activity and placed the organization at this kind of risk. If they know about it or knew about it and did nothing, that's a big, big problem.

I don't want any of my contribution dollars to be spent on defending Charlie Roberts legal problems resulting from his geezer-ific trists.

My wife and I stopped Alumni Asso gifts when the LSU Foundation approached us my mail for a contribution. We give two annual gifts to the LSU Foundation and Flagship Fund and to TAF although we have never gotten tickets through TAF.

I wonder if people will feel less inclined to donate to the alumni association now and maybe donate towards a different group such as athletics.

This was already the case before the scandal broke because most donors knew Roberts was a POS.

The LSUAA needs a change, and perhaps it needs to be merged with the Foundation because, as other posters have already noted, the LSUAA doesn't actually give much back to the University. Rather, it is more of a membership organization that supports itself through dues and donations.

Because all I know is from second-hand sources, I have to be careful about what I'm saying...

There have been allegations about Charlie Roberts going back to when I was a student in the mid 1970's...this does not surprise me at all.

Now my question is what happens to the AA? Doesn't the Lod Cook Hotel and Alumni Center belong to the AA?

Then, how in the world is Charlie Roberts being paid over $300K????

There is really something smelly going on there!!!

I don't want ANY of my money that I've donated to the LSUAA to go toward Charlie Roberts' antics or anything related to this issue.

Charlie Roberts is a self absorbed arse. My wife and I lived in Houston during the early 90s. We were very involved with the alumni association. Houston had a great group of young alumns in the early 90s. After getting involved in the finance side of the group (I'm a CPA by trade) - I was saddened and then pissed by Dr Charlie Roberts actions. What a douche bag. He ain't worth 25k on the open market.

Track Dr Roberts use of LSU paid tickets. This shite head has used LSU for his personal slush fund for decades. The chickens are coming home to roost

I hope Dr Alexander fires his arse and cancels his pension

And the comments about mr Roberts disdain for the TAF and the Foundation are real. Those 2 groups are run and supported by people who really do care about LSU getting better 1st and foremost. Alumni association - what a group of misfits.

Don't do a cost benefit analysis on the 5 most highly paid employees at the Alumni Association --it's not pretty

This is just a damn shame. As an alum, this is disappointing and discouraging. They all seem like nice people, but this will cause serious damage to the LSU alumni image. I wasn't aware of any of the rumors, because i'm not as close to campus as some are. Why the hell would these rumors date back so many years and nothing be done? Seems like some shitty nonchalant politics going on.

Not surprised at the salary, that seems to be the going rate. FWIW nonprofit CEO salaries are on their tax returns. Obviously when this crap happens people are more interested, but the info is out there

Eta: all 3 foundations for LSU (LSUAA, LSUF, TAF) have CEO salaries of $300k or more

I worked a while for Charlie (Chancellor Wharton's office) when I was a student. All of this saddens me. He seemed to be an honorable man then.

I worked on a project with him over a decade ago now - he was always a professional and I never witnessed anything out of line.

I was on the accounting side of the project and one of the few involved that were not directly connected to LSU - again, he seemed alright.

And for the not a friend of TAF comments - I can say I witnessed the exact opposite - he fought to keep a civil relationship between TAF and the AA. He fought to ensure that loyal alumni would always have access to prime seating at LSU football games.

Dr. Alexander has nothing to do with CR's employment or his pension.

CR is much like EWE: neither cheated/stole only once & got caught that one time. Both did their thing for decades. CR for yrs was the one who interviewed all the student interns & guess which sex got the most jobs. As to what happened beyond that is not factual but based on on his well earned rep, it's not much of a leap to assume the interviews were extensive and ongoing.Stories of him are legend & numerous throughout the AA.

My only complaint with Charlie is that he did a shitty job running the Alumni Assn. Where I live the AA is terrible.

You'd be a fool to donate a dime to the alumni association.

CR is not going to change at 78 yrs old.
How did we permit this guy to stay on in such an important position for so long.
Sounds like there's a need for a complete top to bottom housecleaning and a change of culture.
