Best one will probably be MLB bound. (Enlow).

Hearing more and more that Enlow will be a Tiger. Not sure if it's just talk or not. This is coming from St. Louis Cardinals scouts that I talked to in Hoover last week and local high school players.

Also - same scouts said LSU won't see Hilliard from Central (BR) due to grades.

That would be cool. Seems like a solid talent that could be in rotation early.

Yeah until he gets 1.5 mil guaranteed. You can't really believe much from high baseball prospects because in reality you don't know what they'll do when thrown a ton of money at them at age 18.

ETA: I hope you're right, though.

Enlow is projected late 1st rd or sandwich pick. He isn't going to college.

Projections don't equal reality when a team calls to ask the number and it's higher than they're willing to go for that pick.

damn

If LSU gets one of Blayne Enlow or Nick Storz they'll be in business.

What is their velocity, and what does their off speed stuff look like?

Said it before in a prior post. John Kodros from Coppell in Texas will come in and compete to be a weekend starter. Upper 80s lefty from a really funky delivery but he is able to hammer the zone with it. Fastball has unreal movement and his breaker and change are very good and for strikes.

He gone, dont get your hopes up. I think we have a realistic shot of losing 5 guys to the draft, but, in the end I think we only lose 4, maybe only 3 if we're really lucky.

It's all about the signing bonus offer he gets vs. his true bottom line minimum.

We see highly drafted guys go to college every year. It's not unprecedented.

Sounds great. We are in need of lefties.

Both can touch mid 90's although they'll sit low 90's most of the time. Enlow has a wiry build with a phenomenal curve ball. Storz has a huge build with power at the plate and on the mound, he's more raw on the mound and needs to refine his slider and curve to be effective but all of the tools are there.

John Kodros

Spot on, he'll be a nice 4 year piece for LSU.

I've seen projections higher than that.

There is a dynamic, which was at play with Lange and to a lesser degree with Gausman, and certainly with Mac Marshall and Jake Latz, where once they've passed a certain point signability just drives down their MLB draft value.

Enlow is going to have a very high figure, because as I understand it he's not an underprivileged kid who needs the cash right away. So if he does last until the end of the first round it wouldn't be surprised if he drops precipitously - the calls come and numbers are suggested and the answer is "At that price I'll just go to LSU."

That's the circumstance Mainieri is counting on.

But the good part is that even if Enlow, and Nate Pearson, who you can kiss goodbye, and Stortz who I doubt will make it here, all go pro it looks like we have some very solid arms coming in. Somebody mentioned Kodros, who could really be a factor next year, but there are some other very good ones as well. Matt Schroer out of Arizona looks like a potential weekend starter at some point. So does Steven Keller. Trent Vietmeier, who might be another potential loss to the draft because he's very well thought of by the pro scouts, looks a lot like an SEC weekend starter. Devin Fontenot looks like an Eric Walker but perhaps with more velocity.

They're going to have a really good pitching staff next year. The holes might be in the batting order.

I've heard the same thing from someone in the industry that doesn't work for an organization and is close to the situation.

This isn't the first time this news has popped up here. Hope it's not true, but if we don't lose many guys to the draft, it would help clear up the numbers picture.

With Kiel stated that he's gone and McCabe decommitting, we're at 43/35. That doesn't take into account Lange, Nate Pearson, Deichmann, and Pap though. Realistically we're only about 4 over.

I agree with all this. Vietmeier is kind of a wildcard from the standpoint of determining what he wants to do. But it would be great to get him on campus. I like Keller quite a bit too. Schroer is a big time competitor, he did everything for his team.
