While AR was not hyped at all as a freshman and didn't have the weight and open court ball handling skills. He showed grit against the tough stronger players and played with intensity inspite of his slight size.He didn't fade when times got tough.Even in the NBA he was a young warrior. But as for is Ben there is s 50percent chance he'll do ok until the meaningful part of the seaso n when the big boys start playing for almost blood-Ben will fade .Something skinny AR would never do.

19.2 pts, 11.8 boards, 4.8 ast as a true freshman.

Ben wasn't the reason our basketball team sucked this year. Get over it.

I'll take Randolph. It's actually a fair comparison. Randolph had a similar skill set. He was a better athlete.

You will be lonely. Anthony was a better shot blocker and had a better jumper. He was worse at everything else and he was 40lbs lighter. Simmons will probably be an all-star at 24 instead of in Russia.

Good. I'll take Simmons and my team will kick your teams butt all day long. This is fun. Who you got for your 2nd pick?

Anthony Randolph and Ben are not all that uncommon. Randolph did whatever he wanted on the court. Smooth big man that had great handles, a great jumper and a very good shot blocker.

He had a crummy attitude and wasn't well liked among teammates.

People who think this is a fair comparison show how truly stupid they are.

You Simmons Stans have his stats memorized

Twenty years from now you clowns will still be talking about his stats but forget to mention he didn't win any big games

That's not the point of this thread or are you saying you take AR in the head-to-head?

This wasn't the premise of his argument.

Does not support your argument

Well since you say this in a Randolph vs Simmons thread, what big games did Randolph ever win?

And how did Randolph do in the NCAA tournament?

about as many as Ben, so fair comparison

About as well as Ben, so again, fair comparison.

Why do you even bring these points up? They don't help to distinguish one player over another.

And if you want to blame anything on coaching in this comparison, lets remember Brady got canned in the middle of the season for Randolphs year, so we can probably consider that a wash too.

Im counter-referencing what dumb arse said above^.

He makes the point that Ben Simmons hasn't won any big games. But we are in a thread comparing two players that both havent won any big games. Thus, it is an invalid point for him to even bring up the fact that Ben hasn't won any big games.

With that said, if anyone actually think that Randolph was a better player than Ben, may God have mercy on your soul.

Most causal basketball fans probably don't know Anthony Randolph went to LSU.

I am a basketball fan, of the NBA and to a lesser extent college. Ben Simmons is a more skilled player, IMO, and I don't think there is much doubt about that. He will be a quality NBA player, which is likely his floor, but I don't see him having this incredibly high ceiling like AD was viewed coming out of UK. So no, I'm taking Ben.

However, if we are talking impact at LSU, although the premise of the thread seems silly at first glance, it is hard to support that one had a much bigger impact than the other.. I think the responses have proved that. The most substantial argument was simply posting a stat line.

I think Simmons is a better ball handler. He's a better rebounder.

Randolph is a much better shooter and shot blocker.

Frankly, the Odom comparison was made for Randolph as well IIRC.

Randolph was a bust.

I could see Simmons being a monumental bust in the NBA. No one will respect his jump shot.

We shall see.
