First 7 years of Miles @ LSU
2005 - 11-2 (7-1 SEC)
2006 - 11-2 (6-2 SEC)
2007 - 12-2 (6-2 SEC)
2008 - 8-5 (3-5 SEC)
2009 - 9-4 (5-3 SEC)
2010 - 11-2 (6-2 SEC)
2011 - 13-1 (8-0 SEC)
Last 4 years of Miles at LSU
2012 - 10-3 (6-2 SEC)
2013 - 10-3 (5-3 SEC)
2014 - 8-5 (4-4 SEC)
2015 - Currently 7-3 (4-3 SEC with a real possibility of 4-4 in the SEC)
For the sake of argument, I consider that 2 losses in the SEC keeps you in contention for the SECW most years.
During the first 7 years of Miles' tenure, aside from a couple of down years (one of them being to Co-DC year ), LSU was constantly in contention for the SECW and, therefore, a national championship. In the last 4 years, LSU has lost 3-4 in the SECW, therefore not in contention. 5-3 and 4-4 in the SEC will not cut it if your goal as a team is national championship contention.
The decline is very real. The 1/9/12 game and the mass exodus to the NFL really set this team back for a number of years. Combine that with the clear-cut coaching issues we have constantly seen for 11 years (playcalling, offensive coordination, penalties, clock management, for example) and it's pretty easy to see why much of the LSU fan base and administration has had enough Les.
Les is a great man, father, and has been a great coach. The majority of the LSU faithful will not deny that of him, but it's time for a change around here.
What I intensely dislike, and what you should be reporting on, is the shady way this is being handled. Les is a stand-up guy and has done so much for this university that this backhanded, disrespectful way of firing him and getting a new coach is preposterous and reeks. We, as the LSU fanbase, should be up in arms over Alleva's handling of this situation and demanding an explanation of it. Les deserves better from this university's administration and I hate how messy this situation has become. It is a stain on a fantastic coaching career for Les Miles and the great university of LSU.

Serious question:
What has LSU or Alleva actually done? They have made no statements, have no proof they're even looking for other coaches, we don't know what they've said to Les Miles, etc.
Some "boosters" and "sources" have leaked information to the media which has proven time and time again to not know their arse from a hole in the ground. For all we know, these "boosters" and "sources" are completely full of shite and are in no way representative of what LSU is doing or plans to do.

That is a fair point. There have been "leaks" that were completely false before. The whole situation just stinks of something dirty happening.

Did the Rabalais article not say that the athletic dept had provided hm with info last week??
Asking seriously as I don't get that paper and am going by memory of what I've "heard".
Thanks.

Nothing would happen until the season was over anyway. Only way Miles would had been shown the door now is if he had only 2 or 3 wins this season.

Many people think that the source who leaked info to rabalais was Alleva.

There is still plenty of time to give Les the send off he deserves once the A&M game is in the books and a formal announcement is made.

To make an omelette you gotta crack some eggs. Nobody remembers Bama leaking RichRod as the hire. Heck he was talking with them in the offseason just prior to competing for a National Title (UWV would've played for one if not for the weird loss to Pitt that propelled LSU into the BCSNCG vs tOSU that year if you recall).
Nobody remembers-outside of us and Dan LeBatard-about Nick lying and conniving his way to the Bama job after that leak.
So please...don't show off that lack of perspective. Your short memory-or your lack of context-that you're bringing to the argument tends to dismiss some decent points you made with respect to Les' slumping career statistics.
You need to edit your post in order to maintain your credibility. That last paragraph sinks your take.

What I find worse is that this entire process has caused us to lose the best QB recruit we have had the opportunity to sign for in a long time.

Why the hell would Alleva do that? There are soooo many people that could be and that person could still be making shite up. It could be a damn eavesdropping intern for all we know.

Brandon Harris was the best QB recruit we've had the opportunity to sign for in a long time. How's he doing with the current regime? LOL.
Besides, its a shoe in that Brandon will be here at least two more years barring an absolutely meteoric rise in play next year. A rise that will more than likely only occur if he's got a better coach, a better system and better plans.
So Franks probably would've not wanted to hang around without a chance to start until a 3rd year/RS Sophomore season anyway. Especially when compared to getting coached by Les Miles and Cam Cameron versus Jim McElwain/Doug Nussmeier.

he said he has been looking around for months, his decommitment has nothing to do with our coaching situation

I was not a fan of football prior to ~2007 and, as such, have no perspective on that. I fail to see how that discredits the rest of my post, as I feel I make valid and objective points.

This right here. I don't even like Joe Alleva but what has he done wrong so far?

Have we lost him for sure?
Hypothetically, what if LSU makes the jimbo hire? How would Franks decision change knowing that LSU has a known QB coach who has produced a Heisman winning QB, has recently won a national title, and made another run to the playoffs. Sounds pretty promising to an up and coming QB doesn't it?

That's why Alleva MUST be fired ASAP.
