Anyone believe that Alexander at the last minute realizes it's a bad idea to pay Miles millions to leave. He was involved in this the whole time. Jimbo gives them the finger at the last minute and Alleva is told you need to fix this. Time for damage control. Alleva takes the fall. Alexander tries to cover himself by aligning himself with Miles. They all wanted Jimbo and Jimbo played them to the wire. No way it takes two weeks to figure out a buyout looks bad.

The payout didn't match Alexander's narrative of an underfunded university....
None of the elected officials wanted the heat of a deal gone bad either.....
I detest Alleva anyway and his history as the guy that screwed up the Duke lacrosse team makes him the perfect fall guy

During the game they said Alleva told Miles to win the A&M game so they'd "have some ammo with the decision makers". I don't care for Alleva at all, but judging from that quote does it make it sound like Alleva was in Miles' corner all along? He just handled everything pitifully.
