Less an offset for money earned in the future. If he gets a mid major AD job at $200k a year for the next three years you're looking at under $1 million total for the buyout.
And it's paid over double the remaining time. If it's 34 months left then Alleva gets paid monthly for the next 68 months.

Even if we can't fire O after this year, firing Alleva will send him a clear message that he doesn't have daddy's shoulder to cry on anymore if things keep going south. It will either light a fire under his arse or just make him quit, making canning him that much easier. Win-win.

This is the formula that has to be followed (listen to some of what Chris Landry has been saying). Even if it means keeping Orgeron a little longer, Alleva has to hit the road first so that he's not around when the next coaching hire occurs.
absolutely.
that Landry podcast was outstanding.

if you let Miles be interim AD, its practically free. Sounds like a plan
I don't want Miles to ever be AD, but holy shite it'd be hilarious for him to fire Orgeron as Orgeron's boss after Orgeron led a coup against him.
Miles is a great dude, so he deserves some karma (or maybe karma = 100k+ he gets a month from LSU )

I understand O may not get fired. If we don't make a bowl you have to fire Alleva.

The fact that LSU was dumb enough to swallow the level of buyout contracts it did for both Alleva and Orgeron shows you all you need to know about the administrative failures in the LSU system.
Where is the BOS? Where are the checks and balances? Where is the damn media demanding public interviews with the decision makers?
It is ALL so broken.

Any down votes to this get the Jay & Silent Bob treatment!

Who is going to want to take the LSU AD job to watch the biggest money maker for the AD go into the tank for a year or two before he can do anything about it?
Everyone will know he inherited a mess. If he has to wait an extra year, he looks even better after he fixes it.

Easy Tiger, let some people dream

Pay them their salary, but demote them to a menial job, where they can interact with drunk irate LSU fans (security guard at Mike the Tiger’s cage).
1. Drunk fan punches Alleva/O
2. Fan gets punched back
3. Fire for cause
4. No buyout
5. Hire new coach

It's crystal clear the board of supervisors are a bunch of dullards
