This is like four sentences in one. We all hope Jennings measures up to your careful eye.
That I hope he improves before next season.

What if he drops the ball big time in this bowl game? What will be your thoughts and reactions on him then?

Saw him using the Gym at UREC the other day. Heard he is back to be a part time student now.
So I guess I'm not crazy then.

Tigerdew I know for a fact you looked that up because those numbers are exact. lol...Anyways yea his numbers were not that good. Not even 9 yards a completion should tell the story about the pass plays called. Compare that to 16 yards per completion for Mett this year.
Knew the yards but couldn't remember the completions.

Yes, but he was a true freshman and starting for the first game by then
it was actually his second start.

and the potential he showed in that game is hard to be overlooked and not get pumped. And how did it end up?
he had a decent sophomore season. but then he slumped badly afterwards. Jordan was a bit of an anomaly in that most QBs tend to improve over time, he didn't.
pretty much every QB we've had since I've been watching LSU (since Herb pretty much) has gotten better with experience. I'd think the odds are Jennings (or whomever ends up being the next QB) would fall in that category as well.

Only difference is Jennings is faster than JJ and has a better arm.
Umm, that's TWO differences.

Vesper, I feel you bro but no worries on this one. Two totally different players, JJ was a runner who couldn't pass while AJ is a passer that can run. JJ played well in the first half but did absolutely zilch in the second. We should have known from that that he was overrated. But I digress. In any case, I truthfully have no worries whatsoever about the abilities and talents of AJ. LSU is in good hands my friend.

JJ and Lee did go 38-12. One huge difference is we have an OC/QB coach that is NFL calibre. My confidence is more in Cameron than any particular QB.

I don't know how this legend started, but JJ wasn't great against Georgia Tech. He was 16/25 for 142 yards and 1 td. Only had 25 yards rushing. I understood why people had high hopes for JJ after a pretty good SO year. But I never understood why people got on the JJ hype train after the 08 season. He didn't do anything that made you think he was going to be that good.

Oh look, it's THIS thread again.

I remember that nifty fake punt to Chad Jones we ran when the game was already in-hand.

People remember that game too fondly. JJ was 16 of 25 for 142 yds. What got people excited was the zero INT's.
The expectations were off the chart during the offseason based on a mediocre game vs a weak defense.
People expected too much from Mett his first year too. Exaggerated expectations for individual players are a worse problem than being cautiously optimistic. Give the kid a chance to grow before putting too much on his shoulders. First game next year he throws a couple INT's, people will turn on him

The difference is that Jennings has a better work ethic and drive.

Do you really think a raw Jordan Jefferson without a QB coach, much less a Cam Cameron, looks remotely like Jennings?
For real?
For real?

So you wouldn't have a concern if he were a pocket passer? What does dual threat have to do with it? Anyone who questions the positive of dual threat QBs in the college game is denying the obvious.
Does anyone in their right mind prefer that Mett not have the ability to escape the rush and use his legs to hurt the defense. Sort like he did against Old Miss 2 years ago.

Yea he comes in the gym Played basketball with him. Watched him get dunked on he's terrible. His brother is pretty good to be so short. Tre Melvin Tashawn kendell and Rickey were a team. Tre can play ball too. The rest are pretty bad lol

This is exactly what I am concerned about and why I started this thread, just so to see how people expect themselves to react when it does happen (and very likely).

Nothing personal against dual-threat and you are right, this concern has nothing to do with Jennings being more of a mobile pocket passer, which is a plus in college football. He and JJ just happen to have this same trait so I try to underline their similarity.

we lost 5 games in 2008, 4 in 2009, 2 in 2010 and 1 in 2011
How does 12=7?
