Fiscally responsible???
Giving almost a million dollars to a women's basketball coach that not only has been mediocre, but the sport loses money on a yearly basis, which very few care about anyway.
Giving a men's basketball coach a raise and extension based on an nit win.

Yea, he's really shrewd when it comes to money.

Wasn't Chief making like $350k a year when he first came to LSU? 6yrs ago.

Going with the $1.33MM a year offer, that's an average of $196k pay raise a year (after the first year, including this one).

We're talking a 56% pay raise to start (on avg) ending with a 17.2% raise.

We're also talking about earning that pay the hard way while new coaches come in making the kind of money it took him 6 years to make. It's not about the raises over time, it's about the respect of keeping him among the highest paid coordinators in the SEC.

We can go cheap, but we will get what cheap provides. The next HC will expect to start where Les Miles' salary is right now. Sumlin came in making just under what Miles makes.

because it's impossible that Miles was pissed because Chavis told him at the last fricking minute and then the defense performed that abortion on the field?

If Miles wanted him gone why would he be pissed?

Yeah he was pissed because of the timing, but Miles didn't want this. It falls on Alleva again.

The nega tigers on this place are thinking this is a good thing. You are an idiot if you think this.

if you think paying a 60 year old DC almost $2 million a season to potentially not coach for a program whose coach is already on the hot seat is fiscal responsibility i think you need your head examined.

Miles isn't on the hot seat for one 8 win season.

Our defense is potentially one of the greatest in the country next season.

I don't care how old Chavis is, our defense has been good under his command except 2013. We have been a top 10 D in the country almost ever year. Chavis has proven to be a good DC his entire career, both at Tennessee and LSU.

Plus again this didn't have to do with money from what I'm hearing. Or how it was explained on the radio last night. "money wasn't the sicking point" Meaning we didn't have to pay him 1.7 a year to keep him. Unless you have sources that say Chavis is leaving because he wanted a pay raise, than your argument holds not water.

Oh oh oh

Run those numbers and percentages for miles please. Tia
LOL, I just happened to be figuring yearly raises for my employees. Couldn't resist.

Not sure that was Chavis' starting pay btw.

ETA: btw 2 of them are Jizz Jar buddies, I am really really tempted... anything to reduce the contributions that are funding this Chavis deal.

how is any of that relevant to this situation?

because it shows that Alleva hasn't done much good for LSU. This is a new low.

are angry because he's being fiscally responsible.

there is no way any school SHOULD pay guarantee a 60 year old DC head coach type money to potentially NOT coach. Nor should they hamstring a potential new HC hire from hiring his own people.

especially when they've given said coach raises of around $1 million dollars.

I'm angry at Alleva because he is a shitty AD and I have ZERO confidence in him. Whether he screwed this up or not, I don't know for sure...but he should be long gone.
