Lange needed just 17 pitches to get through a clean inning, striking out one and allowing one hit to secure the win for Detroit. The right-hander has been a reliable option out of the bullpen all season, posting a 1.27 ERA and 11.8 K/9 over 21 games.

He has been absolute nails this year. Shame he plays for one of the worst organizations in baseball. If he played for the Yankees or Dodgers he’d be a household name

yep, under 1.00 era out of the pen when usually you are in high leverage situations against best hitters on the planet is pretty good these days

Lange was as good as a fr as LSU has had
Had some control issues as soph and jr

Tigers don’t score many runs. He hopefully plays himself to another team.

Good closers have a way of finding their way into good teams right around the trade deadline.

They are a luxury for bad teams and a necessity for good ones.

It’s awesome to see him finding success jn the MLB. I just always thought his stuff was way too good not to.

Didn't he have kind of a unique story where he was an illegitimate child of a purported professional baseball player and the mother put him up for adoption and told his parents to "foster his baseball talents" due to his biological dad?

And here we are. Genetics is crazy.

eta. I wonder who his real dad is

Nope. I recall about 92 or 93. His curve was one of the nastiest I've ever seen though.

He was 92-94 t96 at lsu

With the cubs a few years ago his velo had dipped to 88-90.

He’s in great shape and has really worked hard. His stuff is nasty

As a Guardians fan, I would take him over Clase in a heartbeat considering the results so far this year. It baffles me how much Clase has regressed this year and is only 25 and seemingly healthy. Lange has way better numbers this year, albeit a small sample size.
Plus it would be lagniappe to have one of my favorite former LSU pitchers on my MLB team. Back when we were the Indians (stupid woke name change btw) and dominating the 90s (everything except winning a World Series smh), we had both Joey (Albert) Belle and Paul Byrd

Not sure if his father was a professional, the story mentions “family”…

In Alex's biological family there are professional baseball players," Renee said. "So when he was born his biological mom did tell me and his dad Craig, 'if he picks up a ball, make sure you foster that.'"

As long as he doesn't get traded before the break, he'll be on the All-Star team.
