Google images ‘muscle up albert belle’… and google the story. No one wanted a piece of Albert Belle.

Maybe not the best as Barry and Griffey were still roaming but in an era of all timers he's right there with them during his prime run. Unreal hitter. Maybe the best hitter all time that never gets mentioned. His 8 year or so run is comparable to anyone in that era.

When I lived in Cleveland in 90s, he was constantly in the local news.
The corked bat saga was especially entertaining.
In '95, some teenage trick-or-treaters egged his house in retaliation for being denied Halloween candy. Belle gave chase in his car, called 911, told the dispatcher he was going to kill the kids if he caught them, and was accused of actually running into one them. They settled out of court, apparently.
The Indians were fun to follow in the mid-90s. Belle certainly gave the team personality.

He used to take bp from his dad at Airline HS. Got to meet him there. He actually was one of the nicest people I ever met, and he was pretty imposing at the time!!!

Corked bat. That’s why. I know many of you were not born but all that went down so I’ll give you a break. But he was incredible.

Legal troubles
In October 1995, Belle's house in Euclid, Ohio was egged by teenagers after he turned away trick-or-treaters on Halloween. Belle chased one of the trick-or-treaters in his car.[21] Belle was fined $100 for reckless operation of a vehicle. The guardian of the teenager later sued Belle for $850,000 contending that Belle's car had bumped into the teenager.[22] The lawsuit was settled in 1997.[23]
In 2006, Belle was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years' probation after he admitted to stalking his former girlfriend.[24]
On March 25, 2018, Belle was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona and charged with indecent exposure and DUI.[24] All charges were dismissed the following month.[25]

As happens form time too time there is a BIG part of the story being missed in this thread. Yes he left with a very bad taste in his mouth, but over time it went away. He actually reached out to an LSU professor he trusted and came back in the mid 2000’s and finished his degree at LSU. Not saying he loves the place or that he wants back in but have to give him credit for completing his degree here.

There was picture from not too long back of him and Todd Walker. Maybe something to do with their HS coach
Joey’s Dad coached at Airline. May have been Todd’s coach. I went to school with Joey and his brother in Shreveport in junior high school. They were a couple of years older than me. He was pretty quiet back then but was a pretty intense dude even at that age.

I’ve mentioned this on the board many times. I went to Huntington with Joey and Terry. Joey was Mr. HHS because he was very popular. He was friendly and mostly quiet. Work ethic was questionable at that time but he was a freak. He could have easily started at safety for Arnsparger while at LSU but he knew that his future was in baseball. I know he has a different reputation now but I’ll always remember him as that guy.

From Wikipedia:
He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.[1] Belle attended Huntington High School in Shreveport, where he was a star baseball and football player, a member of the National Honor Society and vice president of the local Future Business Leaders of America.[3] He graduated sixth in his high school class and made the all-state baseball team twice.[1] In 1984, he was selected to play for the US in the Junior Olympics, in which the U.S. won a silver medal.[citation needed] He played outfield and pitched, winning one game.
This account of his early life suggests that he was impressive in many ways. Sad to see the struggles he has had throughout his adult life

someone paid equipment manager (i believe but could be wrong on exactly who) to crawl in ceiling space and retrieve said bat before the game was over.
It was pitcher Jason Grimsley. He replaced Belle’s corked bat with Paul Sorrento’s bat. Unfortunately, they noticed.

Given it was a Mississippi St fan in 1987 it probably checks out
Or, Belle is just a MASSIVE bleeding a-hole. The guy's heckling got to him, and when Belle was reprimanded for going after him made up some shite about being called an n-word.

Belle was arguably the best power hitter in baseball in the 90’s.

His tennis court shots at the old Huntington high school are still legendary. Unreal power.

This was 1987. I’m sure he took a lot of verbal abuse.
