According to Rivals, Alabama has had the top football recruiting class every year since 2008 except for 2009.In 2009 LSU was second. All things considered, Miles has done well against Saban at 3 wins & 3 losses.Maybe Miles is not as bad a coach as some people think.

Please don't bring thought and common sense to this board.

Everyone knows Alabama recruits get the 5 star bump and that Louisiana recruits are underrated.

Not being a smartass.....but we already know this. Why do we continually need validation?

I agree completely. Miles is the most underrated coach in the country, largely because he is in the same division as Saban.

What coaches are considered the best of this generation?
Saban
Meyer
Spurrier
Tressel
Chip Kelly to name a few

Miles is at least 10-6 vs that group since arriving at LSU.

My only issue with Miles as a coach is the inability to recruit and develop even a slightly above average QB.

Yeah you have uninformed posters on here that think LSU has more talent , in our backups, than most teams' starters.
We've lost 7 starters( 3 olinemen) since the spring game. This greatly effects your depth and send ripples throughout your entire team. It greatly effects your special teams since its usually your backups on special teams but when you have all these injuries you have to move down the depth charts. So when you start with great blocking ,on special teams , from your 2nd teams players ,you lose that when you have 3rd or 4th string players doing your blocking and tackling on special teams.

Honestly, they shouldn't have won a title last year.

2nd chances?

Saban is a damn good coach....nobody should refute that. Miles is very unfortunate to have him as the standard.

At least Miles stacks up better than just about everyone else.

If Auburn hadn't spent all their payroll on Newton, maybe they could have kept a few more of those Bama boys away from the Tide and evened things up a bit.

Recruiting rankings are bullshite. Shepard and Loston were 5*. Claiborne was a 3*. Chiz has been pulling in solid classes at Auburn and look where that has gotten him. Miles would be considered a genius coach by many if he hadn't missed on qb recruits like he has.

I look at the Rivals site about 5 times a year but I can promise you when they redo their player rankings after the HS season ends Bama will vault from wherever they are currently ranked to #1.

In summary, recruiting rankings are bullshite.

No....they really should not have. The scenario will never happen again because of it.

Yes they did.....which means last year we were 1-1 against em.

Did you just try to use Miles' failure to beat Saban in recruiting as an excuse for Miles' failure to beat Saban on the field?

I would have preferred the other "1" win. Withe the greatest team LSU may have ever fielded. Bama was way better in that game and they deserved it.

11/3 will tell a lot about the future of this rivalry. Can lightning strike for the tigers, sure. Will it, hopefully. I would bet on Sabans Xs and Os over Miles' in this one though...

There are as many 5 start busts as there are success stories.

If you want proof that the Rivals rankings are meaningless - check out Texas. Nothing but Top 5 classes and they are barely over a .500 team the last 2+ years.
