Hope he uses a professional advisor. Stay away from bars/restaurants. Those things are money pits, especially the ones managed by friends. He will probably have to distance himself from some people he knows, because everybody will have sure fire moneymaking ideas, and if he listens to them, he'll end up broke in short order.
He's said he wants to do some things for his hometown, and that's awesome, but there are smart ways to do it without breaking the bank or putting people in charge who don't know WTF they're doing.
