Right here.

If you think the philosophy lost that game, you would be wrong.

We did all the right things: Controlled the line of scrimmage. Controlled possession. Forced a turnover. Kept Bama's offense on the sidelines. Ran the ball. Ran the ball. Ran the ball. Our opponent: Took advantage of SHORT field situations. Scored off an interception. Scored after a failed squib punt. Scored THROUGH THE AIR, exposing us with a D-level QB talent & an A-level wide out. When the game was on the line, Bama was forced to throw and executed. Bama is a run-based, defensive oriented team. Those two monikers are our identity as well. The difference is, OUR passing/QB play/Receiving corp HAVE NOT BEEN DEVELOPED and cannot execute.

Sure Can would love to throw, but it's clear that Jennings cannot get it done, so the only option is to run. I'm disgusted that we could not develop a better QB than that. Harris has it, he's just not as knowledgeable about certain things, but I'm ready for him to start regardless.

Last night was a disappointing, frustrating loss. I'm still in a bummed mood, not being helped by the Saints
But:
quote:

LSU rarely has won games they had no business winning (like bama did last night) and more often we have lost games we should have won.
Go check LSU's record when losing in the 4th quarter. That's been a pretty popular note recently. I'd say we win games we should lose pretty frequently.
quote:

LSU was better than Wisconsin to begin the year, and the score barely reflected it.
Not sure I agree; that's the best running game and RB we will see this year.
quote:

How was the Florida game in question?
Fla was backed against the wall and at home. They were up for us. They just recently beat the dog snot out of Georgia, and can finish 8-3 and concievably win the East. Yet, we won.
quote:

Miles believes a 3 point lead is always enough and I personally never feel like we are going to get out in front of anyone
And how, exactly, are we going to "get out in front" of anyone, this year? Last year's team could, but that QB, WRs and RB are playing on Sundays now.

I could argue we wouldn't have been in OT if we could sustain a drive. We had 2 3 & outs in 4th that could have killed the clock.

The philosophy needs to be tweaked....by that I mean: Keep our identity as RUSH/STRONG D, but we need a QB and a air game that can be depended on. This includes Adam Henry coaching the receivers better, but Cam either stepping up his game, or us bringing someone in who can work specifically with QBs and let Cam focus more on play calling. Although, I would also argue the play calling (specifically the types of passing plays called and when they were inserted in the game/series) need to be questioned.

Play calling was definitely questionable at the end of the game and in OT. But the philosophy worked, that's not to say it always does.

But WR drops and FB drop hurt us bad. Jennings got shook bad after that Int. Shook his confidence and he was off the rest of the night.

Execution from the quarter back and WRs was amiss which ultimately lost LSU the game.

About sums it up.

MarkLSU,

We're in the same ballpark from different perspectives. If we're going to run a pro style offense, then that is the type of QB we need to be recruiting, and right now - looking in the Jr College ranks wouldn't be such a bad idea.

However, if we are going to continue to recruit so-called dual threat QBs, then someone needs to figure out how to stop trying to jam a square peg into a round hole, and make the dual threat thing work a little better. However, that also includes the line holding their blocks long enough for the QB to find an open receiver AND the receiver not dropping the damned ball when it's practically put in his hands. The receivers don't seem to be making that extra effort for whatever reason(s).

Like a lot of folks on this board, last night's game took a bit of wind out of my sails. Now, I am just ready to play through these two games and get the season done with. As far as a bowl is concerned, this team might as well go up to Shreveport. It would be like another home game.

Mostly this.
I question a D philosophy not capable of stopping an offense it held to 10pts for 59 minutes.

I think Miles philosophy is fine run run run. The problem is we have no threat of passing.
