It certainly has, my people have said Miles is the reason for it becoming that. Has been hot on a couple of candidates only to start questioning things when genuine interest by both parties is expressed

Damn. Sounds like my dating life! I've become Miles!

Recruiting is playing a huge part in his decision. He wants someone that hits the ground running and has ties

I'm pretty sure this is exactly what I stated regarding Miles lack of desire to hire Pendergast as early as last Wednesday. That concern hasn't left Miles.

CP and Ed O addressed those concerns without a doubt

O can recruit. CP is not a recruiter.

If the answer is yes, he is threatened and "cools" on that candidate

So was Miles indecisive and CP walked away, or did Miles choose not to pursue CP. I'm not clear on this.

I just don't get why this is so hard for some to understand CP doesn't have to be a boots on the ground all the time type of guy.

I believe this is a very strong and winning combo on defense. Otherwise, I'm really not sure where we are.

this is what I think happened. CP is no longer the top candidate, someone read into that and believed that he wasn't interested anymore. The sources on 247 and some here have said that they still believe CP is a candidate.

The powers that be want an upgrade, recruiting wise, from the DC position. Its not that difficult to understand.

and I think if brick stayed than O probably wouldn't come in. I think why so many people were hire on CP and O both coming in was because we believed brick would either go with Chavis or get the job at MSU.

That is a good thing IMO. No matter how good your scheme is if you don't have talent to back it up it will suck.

Personally I think Cam is a smart offensive coordinator, but because his QBs can't hit the side of a barn, he was very limited. Plus even though our defense was horrible at times, we still had some good games.

Not saying we shouldn't improve - the CIP thingy. But talent on the D side has been the least of concerns.

Indecision on CLM's part

I would not say walked away but his interest "cooled"

I think he could be brought back to the table but not likely by Miles alone

Apparently it is - good so we get a DC that recruits but isn't as good with the product on the field.... how does that make sense.

It doesn't.

We need a staff of recruiters, but when it comes to planning for an offense and in game moves, I want the best.

Winning will bring the recruits, in case people can't keep up.

Everyone is saying recruiting is a big factor in this hire. But how much recruiting did Chavis do? If CP was the main target, who cares about a lack of recruiting ties is Orgeron could come in with him? Am I way off base here?

I really hope Miles doesn't start the most inportant year of his LSU tenure with a dud hire.. At this point, I just got to hope he somehow gets it right

It use to be that LSU and Bama dominated the recruiting landscape in the West. But with Muschamp being hired at Auburn, Arkansas starting to emerge, MSU and Ole miss having a very good year this year. LSU won't continue to dominate the landscape. IF LSU doesn't keep up top classes like we have been, we will fall off the table and be a bottom feeder in the SEC. I think Miles isn't willing to sacrifice recruiting for the sake of scheme. He wants a DC who can recruit, and I agree with him on that.

Sounds to me like CP interviewed Miles, not the other way around.

I would not say that at all.

CP and O should have been the first offer. The idea to have multiple interviews has destroyed the process.

We are not interviewing for a Kindergarten teacher. The whole process has not been first class
