How the hell do they come up with these rumors? If I'm them and I hear this, you bet your arse I'm gonna investigate this to find out if it's true before I make it public...because any sentence with Shep and suspension in it can't be true.

It's American (maybe world given the Murdoc stuff lately?) media.
There's such an incredible pressure to break and be the first to reveal a story that people run with anything.
Shep can't make it there for personal reasons (this could be, his car broke down in Lake Charles or his brother is really sick or whatever the hell "none of our business" kinda thing it is) and the media will try to milk it because there are no consequences.
If they were right (that he had been suspended), then they had broken a story but now that they're wrong, there aren't consequences, sadly.
ESPN can report Miles to Michigan TWICE..........and still..........people get a lot of their news/entertainment from ESPN.
In my opinion there needs to be better accountability, responsbility, libel-control, etc.
/rant.
