I know this is a way too early looking ahead, but this could possibly occur. Lets say LSU wins out. Also Auburn and Alabama win the rest of their games (except LSU vs Alabama). Then Alabama would be in a no win situation in the Iron bowl. If they beat Auburn, LSU is in the SEC Championship game. If they lose to Auburn, then Auburn plays in Atlanta. I know, a lot of ifs.

LOL.

You folks are funny.

If Bama only has one loss, and a 2 loss LSU team has to win the SEC...

A one loss Bama has a better chance of getting to the playoff no matter what a 2 loss LSU (or AU) team does.

Some of you have no concept of reality whatsoever.

Not even close. In that scenario, we would want to beat Auburn. Just beating them is its own reward, but it also keeps them out of Atlanta? That's not a no-win situation. That's fun.

We'd clearly like to avoid that, but if it happens, we'd be happy to see LSU go instead of Auburn.

OP didn't say anything about playoffs. He said Atlanta. Read the post.

Op didn't mention the playoff, just the winner of the West.

I fricking swear this will be our fate. We will rail Bama at home. CEO will be on cloud 9. We win out.

Bama also wins out and we face them in the fricking playoffs again. GO AUBURN

It'll be just like 2011. They lose to us and still get a free pass the the championship without having to play in Atlanta. They had a chance to make a rule and didn't.

They have a committee now that puts emphasis on conference champions. At least they say they do. We would get to see if that was enough for them to keep Bama out. This talk is way premature though. All these teams still have alot of work to do.

I would hope that the coaching change would enter the conversation at that point.

I know the media can't be counted on to use logic, but if they took a one loss Alabama team over the team that beat them and that team is on a 9 game winning streak then the whole thing needs to be blown up again.

If AU or LSU win out, that team would have won the SEC, beaten Alabama, and their two losses would have been early. They would be riding the nation's best hot streak.

There is no way the committee takes Alabama over that team.

Maybe Alabama plus that team get in.

It would be intriguing on the playoff front if that were to happen. I really wanted A&M to beat Bama for this reason; A&M doesn't have the same amount of love nationally and they would not be as compelled to place a one loss A&M team ahead of an SEC Champ LSU as they would a one loss Bama team. That said, the narrative may (and should) be that the LSU team under O is a different team than the one under Miles. If their edict is to pick THE BEST teams, then LSU should be in under that scenario.

What kind of rule? To say that you HAVE to win your conference to play in playoffs? That's crazy.

""Maybe Alabama plus that team ""

I can see this happening with all the one loss teams lining up. Clemson will lose one Michigan will lose one,Buckeyes have already OK,Baylor all with one loss. This is very possible under many scenarios.

This is what would happen. It means that both Auburn and LSU (and Tennessee and Florida) are still alive in the national championship picture even with 2 losses. They couldn't take Alabama without taking the Conference champion too and they want to take Alabama.
