Programs that are more similar to LSU in 2015 than Fulmer era Tennessee - Florida and Michigan.

Those schools looked at Hoke and Muschamp and said things were unacceptable and made moves.

In no rational world can those two programs, and the coaches who were there last year, he compared to LSU the past two years or the coaching situation. They are such polar opposites with respect to the coaches and records that it's like comparing apples and hand grenades.

This is what top programs do.

Exactly

Make the change before it becomes painfully obvious that it needs to be made.

A ton of talent on the roster now

A fantastic class coming in, most of which is salvaged with a solid hire.

LSU brand maintained at a high level instead of taking a big hit.

Don't operate from a place of scarcity, operate from a place of abundance.

I think Alabama under Mike Shula and OSU under John Cooper are so much more relevant comparisons. For starters, both team's respective states have fertile recruiting, unlike Nebraska and Tennessee, but they aren't convenient arguments for the Les lovers, because things turned out well for them.

Alabama is eerily similar in how the rumors came out prior to the hiring. Mike Shula won ten games (the golden benchmark for Les lovers) during the previous season. And the media, and the Shulas put Mal Moore and the Alabama athletic administration through the ringer, PR wise.

While I don't totally disagree b/c neither Hoke nor Muschamp is remotely the coach that Miles was at one point, I don't see that comparison as apples to hand grenades.

Les last year and Les this season are not that far off from Hoke and Muschamp. Les has a lot more talent to work with than they did, yet he's been woefully ineffective in the SEC this year and last.

He appears to have totally lost confidence himself and he appears to have lost the team.

All of that is a culmination of a complete inability to develop QB's, a stubborn adherence to an offense that clearly won't win in the SEC west and his trademark penalty ridden, confused, disorganized, coach-not-to-lose approach.

The eye test when watching Miles coached LSU over this season and last compared to Hoke's last season and Muschamp's last season look identical to me.

Anyone who's watched a lot of college football can see that what LSU is doing just isn't working on offense or defense at this point.
