I do not think the sky is falling. I was able to see some good on Sunday but I also saw the bad.

Defensive backs are clearly our biggest issue (like most thought before the game)
Perkins was not used as I feel he should be used
Maason Smith was missed.

I think FSU is going to end up being a really good team this year, not that it makes it easier to handle. I think they have the best QB we will face all year and probably some of the best receivers we will face all year.

I think their coach is a solid guy who has really built something.

On offense I think our early scheme looked great. We still need to find a RB who wants to be "that guy"

Lacy probably needs fewer snaps, give someone else a shot as he has shown on many occasions he struggles catching consistently.

I think they used far too many blockers and that limited Jayden's ability to move in the pocket.

Most of this can be fixed pretty quickly.... Defensive backs is still the biggest issue.

But going forward, we have got to stop scheduling week 1 top 10 games.... we need a week to work out kinks... take a page from Bama and Texas

Good take-red zone playcalling needs to be better on offense

DBs can’t be fixed. Also not sure that we can bring physicality into our OL.

Good take, also JD needs to throw to the receivers down field

I agree with all of this.

I think FSU is going to the playoff and Keon Coleman is probably the best receiver we'll see all year. We definitely need some DB work/help.

If they figure out the defensive gameplan going forward to highlight strengths (Perkins) and hide weaknesses (DB), we will be able to beat anyone on the schedule.

I think we can. We threaten their jobs. We have talent on the 2 deep.

Absolutely this. I've had enough. This is fricking retarded and as an experiment, has completely failed. We need to schedule someone in Week 0 for next year before Southern Cal anally rapes us in Vegas in front of the entire country.

We've had enough, Scott. For the love of God, please stop this shite. Whatever money we make on this bullshite, it's not worth it being completely nationally embarrassed every fricking year. The brand is being damaged and every college football fan in America sees our failure. Get someone on the schedule ASAP. We've had enough.

After the Bama game, teams are not letting JD beat them with his legs. They aren’t concerned about him consistently beating them over the top. Ark / AM / UGA / FSU all played the run and contain on JD. Blueprint is out.

the brand isn't being damaged, but it does make for a depressing outlook on the season each year since we now have to basically win out.... once the playoff is bigger, it won't matter as much

I was gonna start another thread but your OP seems rational and reasonable to build on.

The stats for this game are so freaking weird in that they are so relatively close given the huge score disparity.
LINK

Those stats would normally show a 3-7 point game.smh.

One stand out: 3rd down efficiency: LSU 3-10 FSU 9-14
We had a lot of drive killers, drops or plays that went way too short. Some player errors and perhaps bad play calling.

LSU FSU
Total Yards 460 494
Passing 347 359
Comp-Att 22-37 24-32
Yards per pass 9.4 11.2
Interceptions thrown 1 1
Rushing 113 135
Those look good right?

Then this:
Possession LSU-24:37 FSU-35:23
Wow. TOP is such an underrated thing. Equals tired arse defense if you're on the wrong end of it.

ETA: FSU really carved us up with the 20-40 yard passes.

How can you figure that out when none of them get over 4 carries?

Get Frazier out of there. Move Emery Jones to RT guard and give Heard a shot at right tackle. The right side of the line was horrible and we have the talent to try something different.

Idgaf about who is playing game one it’s not a big deal as long as both teams are not allowed a cupcake prior.

The issue is play calling on both sides of the ball.

No one respects jd ability to beat them over the top so we cannot run the ball.

Our defensive scheme is in no way shape or form helping the DBs out as they learn the system, you help inexperienced and u reliable DBs out by forcing the qb to throw the ball b4 play has developed. At this point we need a blitz happy scheme that brings pressure from all angles and qb has no idea who is coming at any time. Then when u don’t bring pressure qb is shocked and make a mistake throwing ball to early. Pressure creates turn overs, and while consistent pressure from the inside is nice that is predictable well timed blitz from the nickle from the safety and others is bread and butter

That is also probably the best line we will face all year. best receivers. best QB. Best team. They have Sr and Jr littered throughout this team especially on the lines. That's why we were outplayed. Period. Add our own self inflicted wounds and it's a blow out. 6-8 plays could have made it a closer game but that is probably the best team we will face the entire year. that is us 2 years from now.

Really enjoyed the take

This is definitely going to be a recurring issue all year. I’m hoping with Masson Smith coming back, the DL can pressure the QB more regularly and take some stress off of the defensive backs. Any team with a good Oline and a decent QB is gonna shred this secondary

How many times can LSU expect some old Burrow footage to nationally negate losing laughably in our first game? UCLA was bad, FSU 1 was bad, FSU 2 was REALLY bad. Do you need a loss to USC in Las Vegas on ESPN in prime time next year to keep driving us off the cliff? Or would you rather maybe a tune up vs a cupcake like everyone else in our conference seems to get? I'm old enough to remember getting embarrassed in Lambeau vs Wisconsin in 2016. It isn't a good look. Ask Les Miles.

Seriously dude. It's enough. Let some other schools go out and get their brains kicked in Week 1. Haven't you had enough being laughed at the beginning of yet another season?

Turner was bullied badly too.

And honestly, Will Campbell is a great pass blocker, but he needs to work on run blocking a bit.
