Nick Saban built this program and Miles has done one hell of a job maintaining it. Nick Saban led LSU to a NC that I thought we would never see. I have a ton of respect for Saban and appreciate what he did here. I’m not convinced that Les could have built this program from scratch. Les inherited a stockpile of talent that Nick left him. Miles did what he was expected to do, and that is maintain the program. I happen to believe that Miles blew it in 2006 and the 2007 team should have been 14-0

Thanks for that original post. It's the first time I have ever seen a poster with that opinion here.

How many times have you seen coaches totally derail a powerhouse? It happens all the time. Records like Les Miles' don't happen by chance. Also, Dinardo left Saban with A LOT of talent as well. See how that argument works?

Good lord, he didnt say it happened by chance. On the contrary, he gave you the reason why it happened. Nobody was arguing that Saban didn't get talent. LSU is the flagship and only major school in one of the best recruiting states in the country. We should be a dominant program even with very mediocre coaching.

so what does it tell you when no coach in LSU's history (we actually DID play football here for damn near a century before the Almighty graced us with his presence) has dominated the way Les Miles has?

Dude, get some fricking perspective. Zook, Coker, Callahan, Rich Rod, Bob Davie, etc.. If you are not a great coach, you cannot maintain a great program.
