How about this defense held the Bama wishbone without a first down entire first half and entire defense picked as defensive player of the week by SI.

82 LSU dominates Bama

watched that game on closed circuit t.v. with about 2000 or so other Tiger fans at the PMAC on a big screen t.v.

Great memory and indicator of how much times have changed.

I was at the game, Legion Field Bham. Tigers killed the Bear that day. The old drunk retired after that season. The bama fans wanted to hang him after that game.

I was at that game. In what appeared to be the greatest technological achievement at the time, someone had bumper stickers with the score printed and was handing them out after the game.

Was a great effort by the Tigers.

Great team that should have finished 10-0-1.

I was there. Great game.

Early days of ESPN. Rushed back to watch the replay the next day, only to have a stinking live tennis match go to a 5th set tie-breaker. They picked up the game midway through the 3rd quarter. Never got to see LSU's dominant first half in any way shape or form on the replay.

Certainly should have finished no worse than 11-1.

Dominated Tennessee, and led by 10 going into the 4th. Sloppy play escorted the underdog Vols back in the game, and Fuad Reveiz actually had a chance to win on the last play.

The defense that stifled Alabama in B'ham had no answer for Miss St's JOHN BOND! And to lose to a bad Tulane team at home was unforgivable.

With all that, the Tigers played outstanding football in the Orange Bowl, before giving up two long drives late in the game to lose to Nebraska 21-20.

Are we sure this isn't the game summary for the '11 championship game from the Bama board?

The joke after that game was why did Paul bear Bryant beat his wife? When he asked her the time she said 20 to 10

Tackle Willie Gault and its 11-0...12-0 if they score 2 more points against Nebraska.

Really strange team that year. Tie against a 6-5-1 Tennessee team and lost close games to 5-6 State team and 4-7 Tulane team. Then lost a 21-20 game to 12-1 Nebraska. Killed a good FSU team by 34 and beat decent Bama and UF teams away with relative ease. Won the rest very easy except a 14-6 win over a 4-7 S Carolina team. You never knew which LSU team would show up and Stovall was let go after the next season. That was a happy day however in Birmingham. LSU was 11 points from being unbeaten and untied.

I was there at that game also, sat in temporary bleachers they installed in the endzone, turned out to be great seats.
It was a great game. Unforgettable, especially if you were fortunate enough to be there. I have my ticket from that game, as well as the Orange Biwl vs Nebraska. Won't forget the Nebraska game because I stepped out with the largest bet of my life, LSU was plus 7 if I remember correctly.
The entire trip was paid for, for 4. Sat next to Mike Montz's dad on the way there and back on the plane. Great time!

Well Tulane beat us 48-7 in 81 so I guess we were heading in the right direction.

1982 ended a 4 years stretch where we lost to Tulane 3 times.

Ugh! Yeah I was in Starkeville, and I don't even want to talk about Tulane in a rain storm at Tiger Stadium.

E. Martin made one of the greatest one handed catches I've ever seen in the Orange bowl

Pete Jenkins coached the Defensive Line in 82. The more things change the more they stay the same!!!
