1). Has left, in my opinion, 3 BCS titles on the table due directly to his coaching/misuse of player talents

2). The aforementioned asst coaching and game management gaffes

3). Excellent recruiter

4). Players coach

5). Extremely arrogant coaching style

6). Overall winning program

7). Average hire that has turned out to be above average based on results to date

8). After 8 years has program viewed outside the Tiger fandom as perhaps 4th or 5th best in the conference.

9). Has guided the program to the pinnacle of the sport in 1 of 8 seasons.

Overall positive but will always be thought of as underachieving given player talent brought in.

pretty much says it all. but....we are fortunate to have Miles. would I rather have Saban? sure....with thirteen years at LSU you can just imagine what he would have built by now. c'est la vie.

get better.

Auburn, just ask their fans

Arky, just ask their fans

State, just ask their fans

A&M, just ask their fans cause they beat Bama after LSU took every ounce of energy out of them

Tulane, just ask saints fans

The best winning results in the BCS and SEC since 2005 is seen as simply above average?

You are an idiot.

Good out weighs the bad. He is a great person and coach. i really like the guy. The WTF moments are often hard to get past. No Hill in the 4th quarter of Peach bowl still chaps my arse.

My main thought about him as a coach (rather than as a man) is that his offensive philosophy allows teams with lesser talent to hang around much closer in games than they should.

If Saban had stayed at Miami, LSU would have at least 2 national titles under Miles and LSU would be the premier team in the premier conference (making them the top program in the nation) and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, Miles is in the same division with arguably the best college coach of all-time (think of what Saban has accomplished in such a short time in this era of scholly limits and parity).

Bottom line, the guy does more to damage his own and LSU's brand than any fan or website.

Yea the damage is so severe, LSU has a hard time cracking the Top 10 recruiting rankings, and the media stay far, far, away from him.
Surely the least popular coach in all of LSU history.
Sucks at winning too.

And like it or not, there's a wide gap there between the two.

In game day coaching, team preperation, management, player utilization and play calling, is much better and his staff is a better teaching staff overall. He don't put up with assistants that can't teach their position effectively. 3 of 4 don't lie.

I'm not as thrilled with the overall Miles staff as many of the Pumper People seem to be. Great recruiting staff, but I don't think some of the assistants are that good in teaching/technical
position coaching. There are some weak links there.

But Les finally exorcised the stubborn Demon and admitted that he needed help with the hiring of Cam Cameron. Hopefully, that move will be just what the doctor ordered and will solve the offensive/game management problems.

I love the man. Helleva coach. Recruits great players and great coaches to come to LSU. Few people I'd want over him. Media loves him, he's always on ESPN which is great exposure for LSU. He runs a clean program and our GPA is only second to Vanderbilt. However the only thing I hate is that you can usually expect a brain fart every game & usually plays close games which is okay with me if we win.

If we go far this year, which I believe we will, I hope most of the neg-miles fans shut the frick up

Oh that's right, I forgot you prescribe to the standards set forth by Mr. Alleva. Wonder what Saban would say if his AD patted him on the back after not winning it all and said "that's ok, winning championships is not what it is all about".

I also believe the disparity between Saban and Miles is not as great as many make it seem. Two different types of coaches, both systems seem to work.

Respect your opinion but mine is that they are not even in the same zip code. But that can be said for all other college coaches also. Only Urban Meyer approaches Saban in level if coaching. This is of course in matters ONLY pertaining to football.

Sorry for long-winded post, Reader Beware: Do not read while you still can

Love Les Miles, we are extremely fortunate to have a man like him especially given the culture of sports in today's age. He wins and loses with class, he is an oddball that is fun to watch, he is as loyal as they come, and he gets me pumped for every single Saturday (Thursday on occasion) to watch the Tigers- could be a whole heck of a lot worse.

I say people should stop knockin him as much (the man makes mistakes, who knew?) and ride and enjoy the wave as long as you can.

I can make the analogy that sometimes people like Lance Armstrong can win however many tour de frances, bask in all the glory and attention, and then everyone finds out that he is this huge fraud.

People should try not to compare Les and just try to enjoy the identity he is trying to build at LSU as a strong football program.

I used to criticize him all the time, but over time, I have gained a lot of respect for not only how hard his job is, but also how much he wants to win for LSU.
