I know it's gotta be in the top ten most ever given up, I just don't know what the record is. Anybody?

The only other time I can recall another team gaining 400 or more on us was Texas A&M in '91. That was what I would have considered the worst LSU defensive performance of all time. Until Yesterday.

problem? Yes. Reason for the loss? No.

24 points allowed. Pretty damn strong performance by our special teams and defense in many regards. They gave us a chance.

If you would've told me we'd give up only 24 before the game, I would've taken it and assumed we'd win. The problem was 240 yards of offense against the worst D in the west.

It may be a record- not sure. The only game that might compete with it is the game against Bama in 1996 (?) where Shaun Alexander had 300 yards rushing by himself. I'm sure Bama was close to 400 yards rushing as a team. That game was much more embarassing than yesterday's game.

24 points allowed against the same play = AWESOME b/c Newton is a future Heisman!!!!

It's obviously the O-line's fault for only being able to rush for 140 yards on 34 carries, despite LSU having a terrible passing game and trying to run sideways out of that pistol formation with no extra blockers.

There was nothing more embarrassing than yesterday's game outside of the Lou Tepper years.

I can remember a few games against Miss St in the '80s (John Bond ring a bell?) that may have rivaled yesterday's game.

no doc we only allowed 24 points so its not embarrassing.

the les fans only look at overall record and scoreboard to decide what is embarrassing

yep auburn could have put up more points if they wanted so we didn't really hold them to 24.

the oline was really terrible though josh d and tbob spent more time on their arse than up right.

Sorry, I disagree. Alexander was a freshman, and we were never in that game. As inept as we looked yesterday, we had a chance to win on the last drive. I agree that any game with Lou "complete linebacking" Tepper as DC was very humiliating though.

Anyway you look at it, AU's D attacked up front because they weren't afraid of the deep pass and LSU's O did nothing to help the O-linemen, and LSU's D played quasi-prevent D all game as if they were deathly afraid of AU beating us with the Hail Mary on every play.

thats honestly what angers me the most about yesterday besides our failed retard monkey fish fourth down play.

it was a horrible game plan on both sides as usual the o stopped doing what was working and the d just never adjusted and we let au beat us with their strength instead of forcing them to pays.

i really would love to hear chavis answer to why we played like we did. does he not trust mo and pp7?

per the Advocate:

quote:

Anchored by Newton, Auburn (8-0, 5-0 SEC) gashed LSU for 440 rushing yards, the most by an opponent since Texas A&M peppered the Tigers for 417 in 1974.

Exactly why I wish AU just punched it in and the end instead of taking a knee. I knew people would find excuses like we only lost by 7. We got our asses stomp. At least I can admit it.

I'm starting to think that the INT in the 1st quarter made the offensive coaches go into super conservative mode for the rest of the game.

But whatever, Lee was 6-7 (with the one incompletion being a drive-killing pass that was dropped) before he hurt his wrist. After that, it was all downhill for the offense and not significantly different from the pre-Tennessee days.

How can people continue to say this?

The defense was equally as responsible for the loss

Special teams bailed out both units making the game look closer than it was
