How many of those did we have tonight? I was horrified to see at least 2 when we were tied at 54. Why doesn't Johnson bench the guys who are content to go out there and play streetball?

We're simply a team that can't seem to put together 40 minutes of good basketball.

It's a fair point to discuss as poor possessions could have cost LSU this game and undoubtedly have cost us others. The shot selection at times, with plenty of time left on the play clock, is quite puzzling.

As the OP said, I was incredibly frustrated as well that at a key point in the game, with LSU having opportunities to make some crucial points to give them the lead late, that such careless shots were being attempted.

It was a tremendous comeback and a great finish to the game, but on a message board, I think it's fair to discuss both positives and negatives about the team regardless of the outcome. So let's not jump down someone's throat for not living in bliss after a victory.

I thought those were at crucial times as well, I would rather have seen them try and work the ball inside, or wait to set up some offense. Many were ill-advised, but a few were good looks at the basket as well, and just plain missed. JOB had a horrible night shooting, even missing from 4-6 feet.

He should have benched Hickey, huh?

That's an interesting opinion.

So, at 54 - 54, when Hickey threw up the 3, TJ should have benched him. Is that what you are saying?

You are an idiot. We have a fresh and two soph in our backcourt, they are going to make fresh and soph mistakes get over it. We had a 17-point come from behind win over a top 25 opponent and your reaction is to come on here and bitch about missed 3 point shots? Come on man if you want Trent gone that's fine, but don't push like this crap after a win.

Trent did a good job of keeping his younger players in the game. When Hickey couldn't guard Bost in the first half, he sat him down and it worked because Hickey's defense in the second half was 100 times better in the 2nd half. With a young team down 17 early, it would have been real easy to fall apart, so how about a little credit for keeping his players in the game?

Excellent post. And, at 54-54, when they threw up 2 bad shots, he didn't overreact. He straightened them out and allowed those young kids to lead LSU to victory. He pulled all of the right strings today.

Are you saying it was a good shot selection? If he would have passed, or worked the ball inside for a high-percentage shot, would we have gone to OT?

Great win. The one issue I had was the back to back horrible 3 balls by Hickey and Stringer. Should have run the offense. Hamilton needs to get the ball more on the post.

He actually pulled Stringer a couple of times after terrible choices last night, which is a huge improvement over his previous in-game coaching this year.

streetball =/= jacking up threes

it's just bad basketball

stringer, hickey and especially john isaac should never take a 3 with less than 10 seconds off the shot clock.

they fought all the way back to tie it and then took about 4 horrible shots in a row.

very glad they ended up winning but those are the kinds of shots that will shoot you right out of the game (see vanderbilt)

Agreed, I wouldn't call it street ball. It's not like Rafer Alston (who I loved as a Rocket, BTW) is out there free styling.

I like the way this team pushes it upcourt fast in transition. They just need to do that and pass first, which they usually did last night.

That said, those were awful shots. They're young guys, though, and they're improving. I was really impressed with the athleticism and defense of these young guards. It was really an amazing win without very good in the paint scoring. Showed a lot of heart, IMO.

To be honest when you have guys who get by with making shots from that range its hard to fault them when they are trying to make a play. If those shots go in then everyone is screaming their praise, a la Hamilton taking those 3's. They made the shots when we absolutely needed them to make them. They are young guys who in high school threw up those shots non-stop, so it is hard to bash them when they miss a couple. It is confusing when they jack them up at the start of the possession but at times its not like our offense is any better than that option.

That was pretty ugly and gives you an insight into the overall talent level of the team. I've seen a lot of other college teams jack it up from behind the arc and not many draw "nothing but glass." Yikes!
