Game was originally going to be played Oct. 20, 2018. It is now going to be Sept. 22, 2018, per LSUsports.net

Any idea why they moved it? Perhaps some change with other OOC games?

Does this mean we finally won't have a bye week before the Alabama game?

Maybe its has to do with the whole UF game(s) from last season.

Not sure why they moved it, but if I know LSU, I would have to think they believe it is for some sort of competitive advantage. The SEC part of the schedule won't be released for another few months (The SEC opponents are known, the dates we play them are not).

No the BYE is always around Halloween weekend. It seems like we play Bama in the first weekend of November every year.

Looks like they moved it to schedule the bye the week before Bama.

Alabama will be November 3rd in 2018. So if the bye is October 20th, then no, it wouldn't be the week before Alabama

La. Tech and a bye the two weeks before Alabama is too soft. May want to play a more a competitive/physical SEC game before the bye.

Clearly obvious that game was moved in anticipation of Auburn moving to the SEC East. Schedule is being adjusted for pending realignment.

LaTech needed help with games against UNLV and BYU - they owe UNLV a home game and UNLV is pressing for 2018 - and BYU wants a 1-1 with LaTech with first game in Ruston in 2018 - LaTech had a competing 2-1 deal with South Carolina that would have paid LaTech over $2MM cash plus a home game - LaTech was going to use that money to opt out of 18 LSU game - LSU moved date but adjusted the payout to LaTech.

I believe Tech is currently the first opponent for UNLV in that new Raiders stadium

LATech isn't a very physical team, but they are far from a pushover. They've built a fairly consistent program and upset several P5 schools in recent history. The only thing holding them back is being in Ruston. They do exceptionally well being in such a limited market.

I'd say that's probably true.

Not really, 3 times since 2012, which includes Illinois, one the worst P5 school in that timeframe, twice. Also, 2 wins were in 2012, against 2-10 Illinois and 4-8 Virginia. The other was in the heart of Dallas bowl against then 6-6 Illinois (6-7) after the game. I dont think any of those games were much of an upset if at all.

Maybe they are moving the game to Ruston to help with our NE Louisiana recruiting.

Tech played A&M a couple of years ago in Shreveport. That was one of the most exciting and disappointing games I've ever seen. We just BARELY lost.
