Oklahoma State was a 35 point favorite and LOST @ Iowa State. I'm sorry but that is an unforgivable loss. I don't care who you are!!

Never has who you lost too outwieghed such a huge disparity in who you beat.
Bama played 2 teams all year that finished top 25 and went 1-1.

Correct. 2010 and 2011. My junior and senior years. Maybe I should go back to LSU! We started losing to Bama immediately after I graduated (fall semester) and haven't beaten them since.

This.

(Losing Moore at Fullback was also a killer)

Was Okie State a better team than Bama?

Even though the majority of us then and now would have said "no" to that question, that's not how it should work. We have no way of knowing which team would be better on the field on a given day. If we did, we'd all be rich and Vegas wouldn't have all those nice, shiny buildings. Was Bama better than Utah in 2008? What about South Carolina in 2010? Ole Miss last year? Just because we think they are a better team does not mean we should just give them the benefit of the doubt when the unbiased, tangible data says another team is more deserving. Oklahoma State had more quality wins and won their conference. That has got to count for something, otherwise the entire regular season loses its luster.

Exactly. Thats why i hate when the voters talk about putting the best teams in rather than the most deserving. The best team is subjective.Unless 2 teams have played we have no way of knowing which team is better. If youre just gonna use the eyetest then why even have a damn season.

Bama's only loss that year was in OT to the undefeated no. 1 team in the country. The game was statistically even. And the SEC West had a very strong reputation as the toughest division in the country.

Very strong argument that Bama was the equal of LSU that year. Thus the rematch. Not too hard to understand.

Okla State lost late to a horrible team. Hard to overcome that, regardless of the quality of their wins.

Personally, I had no problem with the rematch. Yes, I know it's very hard to beat a good team twice, but Bama was deserving.

We just failed to show up on 1/9/12.

Mother of God it's 2016 stop talking about 1/9. Geez. Painful memories aren't fun. Move on.

What is this "if" they speak of?

I think the "if" is more contingent on Harris' receivers actually using their hands and catching passes. As good as our receivers are, we can all agree that they dropped too many passes last season.

But they're memories nevertheless and shouldn't be suppressed. Why can we wax nostalgic about 1958, 2003, and 2007, but have to suppress 1/9/2012?

That game exists - and was so depressing and frustrating that it will never die.

Only at LSU and in Les Miles offense would losing a FB really hurt your team

Yeah thats what happens when you play all of 2 teams that the season ranked.
The sec west was not tough that year. Only 3 west teams had a conf record above 5. A 10-4 team won the east. Oklahoma State had the far far better resume.

Lets see how many states shared your opinion.....

Losing your best lead blocker hurts ok every team. This is common knowledge.
Its also telling that you think losing Moore hurt rather than think Harris' inability to connect on short and intermediate passes.

I really hate this misconception that Brandon was terrible last year. He wasn't the reason we lost a single game last November. It wasn't like the JL/J days were the rest of the team performed exceptionally well but the QB went 6/19 94 yards and we lost. The Oline and Dline were atrocious in November. Neither unit got any push whatsoever. Our oline allowed Brandon to get creamed and our Dline gave opposing QBs all the time in the world to throw. Football is won in the trenches and we were simply subpar.

OMG thank you! When people recite the same Brandon Harris was terrible nonsense, I stop listening or reading whatever they have to say. Absolutely zero attention paid to awful WR, OL, and secondary play. Harris wasn't the reason that Chad Kelly, Alex Collins, and Derrick Henry had a field day vs LSU. He wasn't the reason why the blocking turned to crap. A guy with an injury that limits his footwork (which limits everything else), needs some kind of protection. He needs some kind of help from the defense as well.

Of course he needs to improve, but if people think we would have won those games just by him improving and ignoring all the other problems, then they don't understand football. The opponent's scores could have been higher in all 3 of those games if they had wanted. Ole Miss stopped caring to score late in the 3rd quarter.

He was playing above average before his hernia injury in the Bama game last season.

So, what happens when he gets hurt this year?

Do we have a qualified backup?
