Why bother? It really is that bad.

Here's to Joe Alleva.

swimming and diving hasn't been good in ever. until they build facilities to compete there, they will be a cellar dweller.

Wrong. LSU Swimming was on the rise and both Men and Women were Nationally ranked (same facility) when Coach Dave Geyer was named head coach. Since then it has been a down hill slide. We have 48 swimmers this year and only 3 can score a point for LSU.

COME ON MAN !!

nationally ranked doesn't mean they were actually good. there's not that many teams. it's not difficult to be ranked.

smaller sports will never matter in regards to this AD's job. All Joe has to do with that sport is make sure the coach keeps shite in line and nobody gets in trouble. if we ranked all the sports at LSU in order of importance, swimming and diving would be last or second to last even if they were winning SEC titles.

2007-2008 Men - 17th (6th) Women - 17th (6th)
2008-2009 Men - NR (6th) Women - NR (8th)
2009-2010 Men - 19th (7th) Women - 25th (7th)
2010-2011 Men - 20th (4th) Women - 18th (8th)
2011-2012 Men - NR (5th) Women - 23rd (5th) Geyer's First Season
2012-2013 Men - NR (6th) Women - NR (7th)
2013-2014 Men - NR (9th) Women - NR (7th)
2014-2015 Men - NR (9th) Women - 20th (5th)
2015-2016 Men - NR (10th) Women - NR (7th)

Before the Parenthesis is the End of Season National Ranking. In the Parenthesis is the place the team finished at SEC's.

The Natatorium is not exactly a recruiting goldmine and if the primary swimming facility, along with lack of interest from the LSU community, is below par, why would top recruits attend?

Swimming has not exactly been a focal point of our University and our placement in the SEC is more telling than our final ranking, in my opinion. If you are swimming fan, I understand disappointment, but until we taking the sport seriously at our University, then I do not see it changing much.

However, if you are going to look at S&D, look at Cross Country, which finishes at the bottom, but also hurts our team big time at Track Nationals year in and year out. I understand looking at a college sporting event and always wanting LSU to be well represented, but relax.

"Geyer's First Season " with Adam Schmit's Team. You make my point well. We were turning heads before Geyer and now we are NR, NR, NR, NR, NR, NR, you get the drift.

It's not rocket science.

And all the NR (not ranked) that follow from 2012 to present only make the case. 7 out of 8 NR (not ranked) finishes.

COME ON MAN !!

I could have sworn I said SEC finishes were more telling in my opinion, but by all means, just keep finding a reason to be upset about Swimming and Diving.

Another idiot stealing from LSU. Actually S&D should be eliminated as the school won't support the program with a facility upgrade.

Problem is Alleva couldn't even fire a swim coach given the current circumstances with our major sports. How the frick did we hire this guy after the Duke debacle. This guy is a debacle magnet. Just sayin.

Why stop there? Why don't we just agree that LSU is #1 Swim Team in Louisiana. And we can all have a great Easter.

Don't count LSU out yet. Nothing will happen until after the legislative session though.

Gotta respectfully disagree here. The new tennis and gymnastics facilities say otherwise.

This. Look at tennis, was struggling, builds a state of the art complex, recruits start coming in.

If you build it, the top recruits will come.

Swimming is kind of a mid-tier sport in most universities. It's clearly lower on the totem pole than Football, Basketball and Baseball but then you'd be crazy to think more people care about what's going on with the Beach Volleyball team than the swim team imo. (No offense to any volleyball players in here)

LSU's swim team isn't prestigious but it's capable; there's been success in the past and there's no reason to not aim for some SEC titles and winning relays at nationals

Cut some scholarships and make Rugby varsity. Seems like it's the only sport on campus that doesn't suck this year.

I kid of course. But the efforts of bringing in international swimming and diving recruits who can't even compete in the SEC isn't worth it.
