Debo Welter Kwon

Towards the end of the year (hopefully) CG is getting half the snaps.

I saw Debo play three times in HS and thought he should have been a 5 star. Nothing I've seen of him at LSU looks any different. I'm shocked that guy isn't a starter yet, but Kwon and Barrow are both awesome. And in spite of the nonsense you read on here, we had very good LB play this year. Welter would be a good 2nd string MLB, but we need a killer there.

I know weight isn't everything, but barrow, minter, Sheppard didn't come in at 230. It took those guys 3-4 years to get that big.

Just saying he won't need a season to bulk up to not get dragged by sec rbs. And barrow will be gone. So out of potential starters, he will already have the size.

Not to mention, has Chief EVER coached a 3-4? People act like going from 4-3 to 3-4 is simply adding a LB and taking out a DL.

We just dont recruit for that. our dts would play de in 3-4 and our des would play lb. We dont have anyone to plug the middle. Would be disastrous. We better off running with what he have. A bunch of tweeners to combat the spread offense and throw 5-6 dbs on the field.

We need to get the stuffing out the middle of this Defense. I hope CG can pick it up early.

I heard good reports regarding Duke Riley earlier in the year. He played a good amount of special teams this season.

It'd be nice to see Ronnie Feist make an impact. He showed some promise as a true freshman at MLB. After practicing at DE in the spring, he was moved back to LB when the bigger defensive bodies arrived on campus. However he was behind the curve from a linebacking standpoint and took a redshirt this season.
Curious to see his progress and where he plays. DE or LB? And if its linebacker, MLB or OLB

Have we gotten the Chavis promise LBs yet or are they just good enough?

Saw every game of Debo's high school career and LSU so far. Guy brings safety level speed to the LB position. He's going to be an All-SEC level weakside LB before he's done here

Are you shitting me? I thought Welter was a senior! God dammit, please tell me this will be open to competition and not just handed to the most senior member.

Opening Day starters:

WLB: Deion Jones
MLB: DJ Welter
SLB: Kwon Alexander

I think Clifton Garrett takes over at MLB by the end of the year though. Kendell Beckwith is a wildcard... I don't see Kwon Alexander losing his starting spot, but that's the only thing Beckwith can really play if not MLB and it's going to be hard to keep him off the field.

Maybe the staff is moving Beckwith to defensive end. Hard to imagine that we're going to have three "big" linebackers who are all starting-caliber (Beckwith, Garrett, Alexander) for 2 years and not have all of them play somehow...
