Which offense was more talented? I would take this year's group as I think it's deeper at RB and WR. Bharris obviously isn't Mettenberger but I think if he was utilized more to fit his skill set then he could be every bit of productive with a heisman hopeful RB and a bevy of talented receivers.

I'll take Mett, OBJ, Jarvis, and Jeremy Hill over almost any group in LSU history.

We still don't have a QB on Mett's level. So 2013 easy. LF can't do this by himself.

2013 > 2016

Mett > Harris
Jarvis-Odell-J.Wright > Dural-Dupre-Johnson-etc.
LF7 & Guice > J. Hill

The difference maker being at QB. This isn't to take away from Harris or anyone else mentioned, this is just a testament to how much talent we have

Incredible group, but go position by position and I'm taking 2013.

Russell > Mett
OBJ > Bowe (close though)
Jarvis > Buster
Hill > Scott/Hester/Keiland (for that year at least)

We also had Alfred Blue, Terrence Magee, & Hilliard at RB in 2013. Pretty deep.

As far as RB goes, I think 2016 is our best group. Fournette, Guice, & Williams is elite. Williams would start for a bunch of teams and he can barely get on the field here, b/c he's stuck behind a couple of high draft picks.

Williams will probably pull an Alfred Blue and get drafted somewhere between rounds 5-7 and have a decent NFL career.

Agreed on all points.

LF/Guice/Williams/Brossette/Ducre is the best group since Faulk/Collins/Mealey

For sure.

I guess I was focusing on the skills spots.

Which offense was more talented?
Did I fall asleep and miss 2016?
I hope I'll make that determination no sooner than January 2017.

I asked about talented, not productive. 2013 production will be very hard to meet considering our D was arse that year which led to a bunch of shootouts.

Hill was talented but was 2nd rounder. LF is a near lock for top 10 and wouldn't be surprised if Guice goes in the top 3 rounds when he goe's pro.

Malachi has all the potential OBJ does. He's probably gonna be a 1st rounder. OBJ was not good in 2012, bit as good as malachi last year IMO. Landry mayve been the best player of that whole group but we didn't have the depth of WR in 2013 like this year. Kadron Boone and Wright were good but nothin but special teams in Nfl. Dural, Johnson, Ferguson all have NFL potential. Not to mention Chark and some freshman.

Met is clearly better than Harris but it's not a stretch to say Harris is nearly or just as talented. His deep ball is beautiful, disregarding accuracy

I agree with above statement from SportTiger1. 2006 OLine was not good at all. The two games they lost (Auburn and Florida) the run avg was about 2 ypc. But some will argue it was bc of Russell, smh

Yea, Mett was a better overall qb than Harris. The one thing Harris easily has him beat is being able to escape the pocket and run for yardage. Mett was a statue back there.

God I fricking hate this myth.

They were not good in the UGA game against a QB with more experience than anyone in SEC history basically, but the offense completely shite the bed against Ole Miss and Alabama.

#15 Total Defense
#21 Scoring Defense
#13 Passing Defense
#1 Forced Fumbles
#11 in Interceptions
#21 in TFL

All of those things combined mean we were a pretty damn good defense. Mett threw 3 TERRIBLE interceptions against Ole Miss' 3rd string defense. Against Bama, we fumbled on the goal line on the opening drive which completely killed our momentum and spirit and averaged like 2 YPC in our running game.

ETA:

And those are national rankings. If we do SEC, we're clearly a top 3 defense in the league that year.

You forgot our sacks number. The pass rush was not nearly as good as it is for us most years. If we played more prolific offenses with good quarterbacks they would've done well with all the time they had. Calling it arse mayve been a little much but it wasn't nearly as intimidating defense as what we'really used to.
