We are significantly better at RB now.

2006 QBs though: Russell, Flynn, Perilloux. LSU fans would kill for that kind of talent nowadays.

ETA: Fournette might finish with more career rushing yards than all of those guys combined

BTW, coming out of high school I was certain that Keiland would be an absolute stud. He never quite lived up to the hype, but I'll never forget that '07 VT game

None had much NFL success.

Exactly. For being the perennial leader in producing NFL talent, none did much at all in NFL. Kind of odd actually since LSU produces so many NFL players.

Trindon Holliday was a very good return man in the NFL -- great averages per return. In fact, his average yards per KR (26.9) is up among the best in NFL history (slightly better than Steve Van Buren's average of 26.7 with Philadelphia from 1944-1950).

Trindon also had record-breaking success in the postseason. (Career Totals only include games during the regular season, so his career averages don't even count his incredible numbers during the playoffs.)

Trindon Holliday sets NFL record for playoff TD returns

quote:

Holliday is the first man in NFL playoff history to ever return a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown in the same game.

A few more facts that make Holliday's day even crazier: The Baltimore Ravens didn't allow a single special teams touchdown in 17 games this season. The Broncos, meanwhile, didn't have a postseason kick- or punt-return touchdown in their franchise history before Saturday.

Last two records for now: Holliday's 90-yard punt-return touchdown was the longest in playoff history. And his 104-yard kickoff-return touchdown to open the second half was also the longest in NFL playoff history.

Also, Jacob Hester was a very good fullback during a five-year career (which is a long career by NFL standards -- the average career for a RB in the NFL is about three years). He didn't put up huge numbers because of the roles that he played, but he was versatile (he also returned some kicks for the Chargers and was a good overall ST player) and reliable -- excellent all-around player.

Eh, that's great depth but none of those guys are NFL starter material

We have 2 on the roster right now that would be considered starting NFL material IMO
