Uk QB was Tim Couch, Yes Dunson got beat but we lost to better players in most of those games.

The whole point is that Dunson, or almost any linebacker, should not be put into the position of turning his back to the line of scrimmage and running to a spot 15 yards downfield. The DROP LINEBACKER was an insanely poor concept in a league moving into the new age of passing offenses. Two games that illustrate how absolutely putrid that defensive system was, are Kentucky and Arkansas. Dunson had no shot to succeed, nobody did. We were no less talented, or experienced, than any of those teams we faced. Minus maybe Florida and Georgia, and Georgia was debatable.

The initial press conference quote from Tepper about his defensive package was something closer to this; "My system takes about five years to completely install and be fully implemented."

Ridiculous

Some memories but most disappointing!
Beat AU there but,
Wasn't Idaho the Hurricane game (Georges I think)
the UGA game was weekend after and everyone was in a great mood after the Georges scare past and ready for Tiger FB to romp over them-never happened!
Was @ UF with the gold jerseys another total bummer after the called back INT.
UK such a downer
Bama Booty give away and volleyball DB game was the pits!

Kevin Faulk getting injured in the 1998 Independence Bowl vs Notre Dame, only fir Rondell Mealsy to rack up 200+ yards in replacement.

The score board showed that we handled Idaho, but I remember fans saying "man, what's up with the defense "

That Kentucky game, Craig Yeast feasted on our DBS. Fred Booker got destroyed that game, Mumme and the boys dug out a piece of the eye on midfield and brought it back to Kentucky that year.

1998 was the most disappointing season in LSU history, even more than 1989. So much was expected, and the performance on the field was so awful. Lou Tepper was the worst coach ever, and rightly led to the dismissal of DiNardo (who I always liked before that season).
