i attended the alexandria aces' warren morris appreciation day last nite. it was in honor of the day 15 years ago.
i got a pix w/ warren.

then the aces and victoria had a great battle of a game and were tied 4-4 at the bottom of the 9th w/ two outs, men at second and third. while we were chanting "warren, warren..." the aces hitter hit a single btw first and second and the kid on third came in for a close throw to the plate, but scored the winning run!!!
aces win, aces win.....5-4

it was a warren morris moment on his day.

p.s. i will edit and add the name of the kid when i find out his name. the aces are in a texas league as a wooden bat college team.

here it is:

Rickrode reflects on ironic winning hit.

<------- was in the right center field bleachers. when it left the bat, my first thought was, well, that will tie it up... then it kept going and cleared the wall. rosenblatt went crazy.

At least they could get the facts straight, "...with Miami third baseman Pat Burrell in the background lying face down in the grass, ran nationwide." It was Cora on the grass, not Burrell.

I was 10 at the time and still remember it.

It's up there with the Bluegrass Miracle in terms of plays I remember like yesterday.

I hate myself for being young. I remember these games, but barely.

We LSU fans are blessed. Has any fanbase had 3 as exciting end of game plays as the Earthquake Game, the Warren Morris homerun, and the Bluegrass Miracle? All a decade apart. Looks like we can expect another in the next 10 years.

without even looking it up, I can recall listening to the homerun on the radio. Jim Hawthorne call was

now the stretch by Morrison hit to rightfield, that's way back there, way back there.... homerun!!!! Tiger's win Tiger's win. A two run homerun, I don't believe it, it's his first homerun of the year...... Holy Cow!!!

now this is his exact call

the stretch by Morrison and pitch, swung on and hit to rightfield, that's way back there, way back there... Homerun! Tiger's win! Tiger's win! Oh my! it's a two run homerun and the Tigers are the National Champions, I don't believe it. His first homerun of the year... holy cow!...... Oh my!

c'mon. People.

It was most definitely Pat Burrell lying face down at 3B. I have a pic of it somewhere. It is posted in the press room at Rosenblatt on the wall. It shows Morris rounding third with Burrell face down towards the mound.

Cora was busy lying face down at SS, his position.

here's the pic.

note the name on the back of the Miami jersey. It ain't Cora.
I had this as my sig for the longest time on here with the caption, "Brought to you by Pat Burrell Lawn Inspection Services...."

My dad and I thought it was over, so we left the house to go visit my grandmother at the nursing home. We decided to turn it on in the lobby at the nursing home and all of the old people moaned that we turned of their Maury Povich. We screamed and hugged when it happened. Top 3 LSU moment in my book.
