The only way Miles ever redeems 1/9 is to win back to back titles with victories
En route over Bama including an emabarassing shut out.

No matter what he or the staff does short of what Bama had accomplished the past few years he will always be remembered for the two Bama losses.

It may or may not be fair, but that's life. LSU hasn't been the same since 1/9, and I fully agree that losing the game in TS in '12 only made everything much worse.

Until he proves he can beat the top tier of the SEC again I believe the '12 loss truly began the demise of Les Miles. I surely hope not, but there's no arguing we have not remotely looked the same.

Negative. We were lucky as hell to win at Tuscaloosa. 5 missed FG's?

Disagree. Bama missed 4 field goals and they were all long. One of the four, a 49-yarder, was blocked. The others were 44, 50 and 52 in OT. None of the FGs were routine FGs (especially not in college). They made a 34-yarder and a 46-yarder.

Miles coached a good game. Saban was attempting long-shot FGs with an inconsistent kicker while Miles was punting and pinning Bama deep (we could have attempted a couple of 50+ yarders, but we didn't). Wing was phenomenal in that game.

There was just over a 10-second differential in time of possession for the game. LSU held Bama to under 100 yards rushing, outrushed them by 50+ yards (the biggest stat in LSU/Bama games) and was only outgained by just over 50 yards in total offense. However, LSU reached the red zone 3 times to Bama's 1 (and they only made it to the 17-yard line). LSU was at the Bama 2-yard-line before half, but ran out of time and had to kick the FG on 3rd down. LSU got stronger as the game went on and drove Bama backwards in OT. LSU executed and they won.

LMAO....so now he must win not one more, but two, and no less than back-to-back.

So, LSU hasn't looked the same as they were in 2011, when they likely had the best team in LSU history.....shocking.

Also, didn't he given Auburn the only regular season loss last year? Didn't he beat A&M AGAIN last year. Wow......I swear....

The 2012 Alabama game still haunts. 1/9/2012 sucked, yes it did, but that game was meh meh from the start to finish. 11/3/2012 is the game that hurts worse in my opinion. If LSU wins that game, which they should have, they go on to win the West. Win SEC and would have pummeled ND in the NC just like Bama did. I'll never forgive JC Copeland for that stupid personal foul penalty in the fourth quarter that negated a long run to first and goal. TD there would have iced the game. When he fumbled at the 1 against Bama last year just added to his unclutchness. I can let 1/9/12 go, but on 11/3/12 the team that should have won the NC let it go.

I have to agree. The play that still bothers me is when we had about a yard to go. Pick up the first down and we can pretty much run out the clock. We have a huge fullback in front of Jeremy Hill, so what do we do?

We run that silly "hurry to the line" and get in a bunch formation, Ware under center, quick snap, and essentially a QB sneak. There was NOTHING about that play that gave LSU any advantage. Horrible call. Just horrible.

Dear some LSU fans,

Get over it, grow a pair, and support the PLAYERS even if you just hate the coaching staff for whatever stupid reason you have. This rehashing of old shite continously makes us look like some bitches quite honestly. Support the team and quit being so damn spoiled.

Nut the frick up.

No. Losing your last game to a sub .500 team does not mean you should go to the national championship over a team whose only loss was by 3 points to "one of the greatest teams in CFB history." We should have taken care of business like we did all season but we didn't. Get over it and move on.

Their last game was a 44-10 throbbing of Oklahoma

So why did UF go over Michigan?

Why did LSU go in 2007?

Shouldn't your accomplishments be taken into consideration too?

They were both pretty bad, but the worst was losing the NC game in the LOUISIANA Superdome without being competitive. And for those precious few minutes in TS when the crowd was rockin', I thought we had gotten revenge. And, even though we lost, I was proud of the way the team played.

And here we are, with another season wasted. I really hate what Miles has done to this team and the fans.

Uh, yes it was. The score was 7-3 and happened with 6:49 left in the half

Maybe not back to back, but think about it. If we play OK St, or win the mulligan it's all moot and everyone thinks Miles is tops. Instead, it's more how we lost than losing that really hurt his image. Then we somehow collapse due to poor play calls in '12.

Right now the image of Miles is a solid program manager with an aberration of NC in '07, a spectacular 2011 campaign that is forever spoiled with the worst coached game of his LSU tenure when it mattered most. There was, in my opinion, a real chance to regain some momentum and restore our image as one of the best in the conference in '12. Instead, we lose 3 in a row, two of which were in embarrassing fashion, to the team Miles knows is the most important to the program.

I'm not a basher, but this is the reality of the situation. It's a product of most LSU fans, in general, that negatives outweigh positives.

What then in your mind would it take for you to say that 1/9 and the '12 games were nothing more than a blip rather than the defining moment of Miles' career at LSU?

This was one year Miles should have not "liked his team." There should have been a concerted effort to pull from the JUCO ranks to fill some positions, especially QB and DL.

1/9 was worse for me because it was for the title. The screen pass to Yeldon in '12 was a dagger for sure though.
