Junior college center Keith Coleman is on an official visit to North Texas at the moment. Could be irrelevant, but it seems like a positive for LSU on the surface. If they are bringing in Odoh, it seems unlikely that they would be recruiting another junior college center.

They already had good depth in the post, especially with Tony Mitchell coming back.

I just did a little more looking into this and the sentiment at North Texas is that Coleman is indeed Odoh's potential replacement.

No decision has been made, but there are strong feelings among the media that cover UNT that Odoh will not be in Denton next season.

If he leaves it will be to follow Johnny Jones to LSU, unless UNT restricts his release, which I don't see happening.

Good news for us. Thanks for the update Bubba.

Quick question, how good is Odoh? Is Coleman someone that Jones was recruiting? Are they comparable players?

TIA

Coleman is a former fall Nebraska signee that was released by their new coach. He is built much different than Odoh. Coleman is a thick, wide-bodied post player, while Odoh is an athletic, jumping jack.

I don't think Johnny Jones was recruiting Coleman. New UNT coach Benford knew of Coleman, because his old school Marquette was considering pursuit of him late.

Who is better? I would say for the style that Johnny Jones is implementing, I would prefer the more athletic player, Odoh. But Coleman could be a better fit in a slower, half-court type system.

I don't know a whole lot about either of them, to be honest.

Juco All American Honorable mention. I am ready for the "Odeaux" shirt that I will undoubtably be purchasing.

Also, didnt want to get overly exicted, but he is a good rebounder and shot blocker. 4.69 Blocks per game and 14.3 rebounds.

Boy, if Jones can land Odoh, this will be a super class. We'll have an athletic big man and three wings that will play right away, one of them (Hammink) that may be able to play backup PG at 6'6". This will be a more running, slashing, driving to the basket team on O and a more effective defensive team. I really like what I've seen in the videos of Hammink and Coleman. Also, Odoh keeps JOB at PF and may be a better defensive C than Hamilton (though I'd welcome him back in a second). I'm getting excited about LSU basketball again.

Also, regarding North Texas releasing Odoh. Their new coach, Tony Benford, has two recruits on campus right now: point guard P.J. Hardwick, a former Mississippi State signee, and center Keith Coleman, a former Nebraska signee. Both were released by the schools they signed with due to coaching changes. It would seem hypocritical to recruit players released by other schools, while not releasing your signees under similar circumstances -- a coaching change.

Although hypocrisy is not unheard of among college coaches, I don't expect the release of Odoh to be an issue.

Any chance Hammink turns into a Temple type player.

I'm hoping Hammink has a late growth spurt and turns into an athletic power forward, at about 6-9.
