All I have to say is that you'd better not let that kid go anywhere else

I was at the ZHS/Uhigh Spring game. Uhigh just has monsters on their team, very impressive group. You could tell Moses got worn down towards the end, but seeing how every time he ran the ball he got 20 yards that's not surprising. They will be really good. Miles looked good, brumfield was handling dudes...overall good game.

As far as Zachary is concerned I think they'll be in good shape. Lots happens in between may-September and they have several sophomores and kids who just came back from baseball. Remember their baseball team went to the finals so they got very little spring in. They got HANDLED in the game, but U-high is probably a top 10 team in the entire state so that's not a terrible thing. They have a new and young defensive coordinator who coached at Parkview under Mayet and at Central under Edwards, I think he'll bring a new intensity to that team.

U-high will be battling Evangel, Curtis, and Parkview and it'll be great to see how it turns out. I know Parkview didn't look crisp in their Spring Game but it'll work out for them, always does. I'll def be at the UHS/PBS game this year and it'll be great.

University High Lab vs Zachary High 2013 Spring Game
I thought for a spring game, cubs looked pretty good. Only real question for offense was Manny taking over for Krag and it looked like he will do just fine. Oline should at least be equal to last year with the loss of 1 very good senior, couple of capable replacements.
Defensively I think we will be a bit of a work in progress, but as young guys get experience we will be just fine. It would have really helped Dylan if my oldest #44 was able to play this year. Being next to an experienced player would have really taken the thinking out of it and helped him to be able to just play.
Biggest question mark for Cubs this year is numbers/depth and I think we may have to rely on some kids playing both sides of the ball a bit more than the past couple of years.

Agree. Accept what is...now. Work and develop what is...now.

Probabilities are just that...plural. Yet it seems that for Dylan the different probabilities are nice to think about.

Does Dylan play other sports? There are big, strong, athletic basketball players that come to mind in the 6'6" -6'9" range -- like Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, and LeBron James.

For Bo Jackson, football was something to do between baseball seasons.

Or does he write songs? The "Dylan" turns 72 this week -- May 24.

yea, when the doctor mentioned his maximum height i was caught up for a sec too. Then i realized that i better enjoy where he is rather than be disappointed by an incorrect estimate.

Dylan runs track. god knows i have been on him about developing his ball handling skills and his jump shot. I have been looking for a basketball coach to help with that but i cant find a decent one here in BR.

if you're speaking of Bob Dylan's birthday that is wild because my Dylan Turns 15 on May 25!!! we will be partying it up at the Tiger's picnic on Sat...talk about perfect timing

This is the biggest question mark. Depth. We've had a ton of depth the past couple of years, and with many regular season blowouts, the starters went into the playoffs pretty fresh. This year, we appear to be pretty thin, so hope we can have a few games where the starters can sit, and pray for no injuries. Yeah, #44 will be missed, not just for his helping from an experience standpoint, but also the fire he brings to the field. And all the kids were a little gassed, many of them only had 4 days of practice prior to the game. The summer workouts will take care of a lot of that.

As for projecting how big Dylan might be, the bone scan ended up fairly accurate for my kid. That is, if he's quit growing yet, they might have underestimated...

You are not very knowledgeable of ZHS. First ZHS did not get beat by 40-50 pts last season in the playoffs. They stuck about 45 pts on Acadiana last year at AHS. Problem was AHS put 63 up on the board.

You are arguing over a technicality from last season. When "said" team gives up 63 points "said" team isn't very good. Classification is irrelevant.

63-42 is a butt whooping
75-21 = butt whoop
49-7 = butt whoop The opponent is irrelevant they were beaten severely when it counted!!!

Zachary football has only been to the semifinals once, and the quarters about 6 times. Beating a bunch of weak baton rouge teams for the past 10 years doesn't really mean much.

I like the CB training you said he's receiving. This can NEVER hurt, regardless of position.

Have you considered sending him to one or more of the Johnny Jones Basketball camps this summer? LINK Would probably be a great place to network and get a measurement of his basketball potential.

I know Pixley helps a lot with the younger U High kids. Why not look into that?
