Top 5 class is basically impossible at this point. Even if we shoot the moon with both of the big remaining Louisiana kids plus both duncanville kids plus this ole miss flip plus another surprise plus keep every single current commit, that puts our class score at a number that would’ve been like 8th or 9th or 10th last year.

Ship has sailed on a top 5 class. Most likely scenario we land like 12th

You do know many of the 3 stars will become 4 stars etc?

You want to bet me? I guarantee you we will not be in the top 8. The numbers just straight up are not possible if we lose Wardell mack.

Everyone can downvote all they want but I’m not wrong. We’ve got 20 dudes in the boat already and a grand total of one kid from the top 100 (per 247). The class can still be a great one but a top 5 class is off the table, regardless of whether you want to pretend otherwise

Buddy, losing Wardell ain’t the end of the world. I promise you, if we land Simmons/Durham/McKinley/etc this will be a top 5 class. Don’t get so caught up on star chasing, this is a very deep and great class. Staff is killing it

A lot of us personally do not give a shite.
The pieces that fit here in this class are damn good.

Actually, you are wrong. A class calculator of adding Durham, Watkins, Simmons, mckinley, Devin smith and cryer put us at 281. The last 3 cycles, 281 lands us at 8 in 2023, 6 in 2022, and 7th in 2021.

And that’s assuming you get absolutely no bump at all from Durham, Evans, McBryde, Callaway, Smith, or any others that are prime bump candidates when you look at their rankings on other services. LSU likely finishes around that 5-7 range imo.

My favorite was that “if they shoot the moon” line.

You mean if they land the guys they lead for? With or without Mack, they likely land in that 5-7 range.

So when you say top 5 class you just mean in your own personal made up rankings? In that case what is even the point of having this discussion? You’re obviously going to say it’s an elite, top 5 class no matter what happens lmao. Weird how that seems to work out, isn’t it? That your favorite teams class just so happens to be way better than anyone realizes, every year no matter what. Surely you’re not just biased. No, it couldn’t possibly be that.

Losing the #1 DB in the state 3 straight years for a place that dubs itself DBU is pretty devastating.

And we need good DB’s badly.

1) They literally don’t lead for Mack

2) i know it’s far beyond the grasp of most people on here but if you understood these things called “percentages” then you’d know that even if they DID lead for all those guys individually that wouldn’t make it particularly likely that they land all of them. If they’re sitting at 75% with each of McKinley/Mack/simmons/Durham (which is probably already overstating it) that only gives them a 31% chance of landing all 4. And even if they DID land all 4, it’s not enough for a top 5 class.

Do you want to bet on this? I will bet you right now that if they don’t land Mack, they will not have a top 7 class. Seriously. I want to come back to this, because I am 100% positive that I’ll be correct.

He’ll be disappointed to know that McBride and Johnson are rated ahead of Mack on 247

Of course he will. It makes him look like a fricking idiot.

Mack isn't ranked anywhere near McBryde actually.

We currently don't have the Composite avg. after adding the 3 top tier recruits(Durham,McKinley,Simmons) to make it into the top 5, but I won't give a second thought to someone's ranking. It will be a killer class if we get them. Period.

ETA: if those 3 committed right now, our composite goes to 91.11. There are 9 teams that would probably still be ahead of us, putting us at #10.(the algorithm is complex, and you can still conceivably be ahead of someone that has a higher composite). So we would be very close to probably 4 or 5 of those teams ahead of us. so if they were to sign some lower rated players(under 90.00 say, which is probable) we could slip above them. A lot of if's here so I say we'll finish anywhere from #13 to #6. Ga.,Bama,Ohio St. will be 1,2 & 3interchangeably. Probably won't be able to catch USC & Auby. Fla.,Tenn,& A&M are a possibility to pass, but my guess is 9 or 10.(if we sign the big 3)

But, like I said up front, if we signed those 3, I think our class could compete equally, or better, with #4-#12. and can beat 1-3 on a good day. This staff can coach up as good as anyone also, so I'm not worried. Would still be a KILLER SOLID class if we added the 3.
