I’m really pulling for him but he has so much work to do with his accuracy. If he cannot shore that up, he’ll be moved to TE or DE. Too much size to waste on the sidelines.

You are a special kind of stupid.

How about let the kid compete for the spot, then talk shite if he doesn’t win it.

I'm not sure about Finley's film. I haven't watched any lately. I need to check out some more film on him, but also remember they are often just highlights.

but I can not find too much on Finley that I liked.

The coaches found something they liked.

This is no slam against Finley, but reality is that he is a high risk/high reward player and there are others who are a safer bet.

And this thinking is why we’ve had no more than 3 scholarships QBs for 3 years. You HAVE to have depth. A guy who might be willing to develop and wait for a shot is not a bad thing. Just look at Bama’s QB. He was buried behind Hurts and Tua and now he’s their starter. Injuries and transfers happen and you have to have build depth to offset them. That’s what this is.

Also, Finley comes with the advantage of a build that would allow him to change positions. If he wants to stay here, he could have an opportunity beyond just playing QB. That makes him a smart target for QB depth in this cycle.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think his head coach at Ponchy is an option offense coach that has tried to change the offense to fit Finley's skill as a pro-style QB. If that's the case he likely hasn't been in an ideal system to develop his talent.

The staff obviously see enough to take a chance on him and coach him up. Max Johnson looks like he's made a nice jump this season so we are in good shape. It looks like we will get Caleb Williams for 2021 and Brennan has 2 years of eligibility.

Unless Brennan really struggles, whoever we sign isn't going to start for the next 2 years anyway.

Given the sheer amount of QB transfers, this isn't unreasonable. Nor should it be taken as some sort of insult.

3 of 4 Heisman finalist were transfer QBs. So yeah, I think a trend has started.
