Great news, it definitely should help the good guys. What's that make, three assistants who have left Alabama recently?

maybe this is the crack in the armor that LSU fans (and other schools too) have been waiting on. face it, LSU has been damn unlucky that Saban went there are matured as a coach. he has cost us several SEC championships and at least one NC; he's the Belichek of college football and he's in the SEC west.

my biggest fear is that Bama has a "process" and a system that features major booster money and benefits to recruits familys. the NCAA letting Auburn get away with giving cam newtons dad big money (because cam didn't know it so say) is being swept under the rug publicity wise.

seriously, even bear Bryant had bad seasons where he only won 7 or 8 games. it seems that evil midget rarely even loses one game.

The Bama machine will only be taken down by itself. Roman Empire stuff all of the way.

Let's hope so. Alabama's had an incredible run, maybe this is the beginning of things starting to even out a little bit.

I have been convinced for many years that Alabama pushes the envelope more than any other school regarding recruiting irregularities. I have no doubt that Bear Bryant got away with a lot because he was revered almost like a football "god." Football is like a second religion over there and they have a "win at all costs" mentality. And I think Saban is smart and just damn good at getting away with it. I am very curious as to what happened with the in-depth Yahoo Sports investigation that came out a few years ago, and pretty much confirmed that D.J. Fluker was given special gifts, including money. Seems like I heard recently that the NCAA has not forgotten about it. Let's hope they take a serious look into it.

The revolving door of assistant coaches will not slow Alabama down. As long as Saban hauls in the top recruiting class every year his teams will dominate. They will not win the title every year but will dominate the SEC.

The whining about Alabama paying players has to stop, the players are signing with Saban and Alabama because they want to play with a winner and let Saban promote their career to the NFL

There is not massive cheating scandal at Alabama, if so with all the players he processes out of the program would come forward.

Does Saban push and abuse the rules? answer yes and the comparison to Belechek is spot on here. Saban has no problem dissecting a rule and squirming his way around it or interpreting the rule to his advantage.

Some may call this good coaching.

If you recall years ago Tiger Woods moved a boulder in his way and interpreted this as a loose impediment which is allowed. The PGA later clarified the rule allowing you to move something only by yourself. In this case Tiger Woods recruited a group of fans to help him move the huge boulder.

This is a classic Saban/Belichek ploy

I sure hope LSU does it the right way every time. Especially when it comes to the coaches. I know a lot of universities likely Cheat in some way or fashion but I would rather win with integrity and wouldn't want any recruit who would be willing to sell themselves to the highest bidder. Plus, you never know which recruit is not that type and willing to turn you in, like that Florida recruit did to gator Coaching staff. Getting caught cheating will set a program back much further than the joy of winning some measly recruiting battle for a recruit who wouldn't be worth it if they were willing to sell off their talents.

I totally agree with you. That is one thing I really admired about Les Miles, he did run a very clean program and never got LSU into big-time trouble with the SEC or NCAA. The thing that bothers me is the sense that some schools get away with a lot more than others. There was a whole lot of smoke from the Yahoo Sports investigation that came out a few years ago. It seems like the NCAA would have at least taken a serious look into it. I know if that were LSU, or maybe one of the lower tier programs in the SEC, there likely would have already been an investigation opened up.

Really think LSU is clean or relatively so. Think the same about Alabama. I am not sure the top programs need to cheat. There are enough elite athletes want to go to Alabama that it would be foolish of them to cheat for the few that want something extra.
I also believe the programs like Alabama are under such intense scrutiny from their rivals, think auburn for example, that they have to be extra careful. Any SEC school would love to catch Alabama cheating and would

And would turn them in asap. Obscure programs trying to build a team have a better chance of getting away with something then the highly visible national powers. Just my two cents worth.

Bama probably cheats more than most other programs. Only Bama fans will dispute that and only to save face. It's a lost cause though.

The Yahoo Sports expose that came out sure had a LOT of smoke with regard to recruiting irregularities at Bama. Just saying...

I agree with all of this. Do they push the envelope well into the gray area? Sure. But they win because they get top recruits and they get top recruits because they win. Has very little to do with coordinators or schemes, or referees, or scheduling, etc (that stuff is just lagniappe)-they have the best talent every time they step on the field. LSUs is not far behind but has been severely hindered by the ultra conservative offense. Things should get interesting starting next year.

I hope his UF payment stuff is true. UF fans fricking suck. Cry babies I can wait for Guise to run straight threw there Defense on his way to get the H. Guise is nice and side note we have a Sr. QB with new coach with new schemes. If you follow SEC football when teams get a new OC the other teams have a hard time against you the first year. Canada and Dave yikes. Let's gooooo

Agree, hope Florida gets hit with sanctions.
I actually got some guilty pleasure in seeing Alabama stomp Florida in the SEC title game, as much as I hate Alabama. When Mcalwain ran his mouth after Florida got lucky and beat us, my hate for Florida went up about three notches.

To be the devils advocate here, but isn't the reason that Smith wants to go to Alabama is Pettito and Burns?
