So you are saying you want the best OOS guys and you want to "re-erect the fence around Louisiana"? Your answer sounds like you want the best players from In and out of state.

Is your post about re-erecting the fence or signing the best players?

After rereading your post I think you may be wanting to know whether we would rather sign the best players or fence in the state.

If you are wanting to know that you need to change the way it's worded or tell people to come to my third post and answer this question:

Would you rather get all of the best players in Louisiana or get the best players available period?

or

What's more important fencing in the state or signing the best players?

My answer would to that question would be:
I want to get the best players available that want to play for LSU.

Take me to school - didn't he coach (Eric Reid) at Dutchtown? Seem to recall Charley and Gordy mentioning how well Eric Reid was coached in HS.

I'm with Chinese. I want the best players no matter where they come from. I love the LA kids and think they're considerably undervalued but also think sometimes we value the LA kid higher than an OOS kid even though the OOS kid is a better talent and prospect. I don't agree with that strategy. The goal is to get the best players available for your system and that can help the team be successful. It's completely understandable and expected that some LA kids will take precedence over some OOS kids that are more talented but a good part of that is weighing the odds of landing the kids against one another. It's a fine line and how that line is toed is what makes the difference. We're doing it this year at LB on both sides of the argument. We're overvaluing Beckwith and yet undervaluing Claiborne and Jones. Like I said a fine line.

Meh, we won a title in 07 with 51% of our players from oos. Fence is overrated, and to be honest i have never felt is been knocked down. Players leave the state and are usually replaced with better players for LSU. And yes collins is good, but not everyone thinks devall is the #2 player.
