Many years ago, when I waited tables at Jubans, there was a couple that came in 5 minutes before closing most nights and sat there and just had coffee and desert. Everybody got a night when they had to handle them in their section. We understood they were THE CUSTOMER and we were the service. We didn't like it, but we were SERVICE workers and loyal to our employers.
I too have been the owner/operator of a restaurant. I would fire her yesterday. Period. End of story.

i dont think LEs Miles is the real problem here.
having a party of 40 show up at closing is uh.....kinda fricked up. Id prob be pissed too. you're probably looking at another 3 hours of work

a servers overtime is nothing, if anything
the tip was probably generous. But on a weeknight for a college kid, with finals coming up...think about it.

And a lot of the people in the 40 person party were already there. Les and Coach Frank showed up at like 9:50 because they were coming back from the Karr playoff game. Its not like all 40 people showed up 5 minutes before closing.

Lester. I would bet there was not close to 40 people. Probably just a room reserved (that holds 40) to have privacy.
I understand why anyone would be frustrated. Hell, we've all been through things in life that make us want to quit. But you can't, you just push on with everything you have, and do it with a smile.

It was Friday and she's obviously closing anyway. It's hard to believe a restaurant with that kind of check average hires plain old college kids, if she's lucky enough to have that job in college she should know to stfu.

If i am going to be treated like a slave, it sure the hell isnt going to be as a server at a restaurant.
i understand the connection & importance with LSU, but any other 20+ top coming into a nice restaurant at that hour is more than likely not going to be served.
