South LA Football vs. North LA Football

I have noticed that alot of Rantards tend to think that South LA football is more dominant that North LA football. I am wondering what criteria are you judging this by? Titles, Recruiting rankings, # and size of Schools, LSU signees?
Last time I checked Evangel, West Monroe,& Bastrop have pretty much owned the state over the past 5 to 7 years with the state titles( I will give you John Curtis). Plus alot of great talent comes out of the north even if they dont attend LSU. Currently the top 2 players in the state for 2009 come from North LA. Lastly, Jacob Hester and Richard Murphy both North LA. So somebody explain this........

North Lousiana has been down somewhat lately. Look for Bastrop to make it to a state title game.
West Monroe will be in there thick if they ever quit fumbling the ball and move the ball on offense.
Neville has had the luxury of playing John Curtis 3 years in a row a while back. If they were on the other side of the bracket of John Curtis University, they would have probably made it to a title game.
You never know what Ruston and Ouachita are going to do, so who knows.
Since the dismantling of the old 2-5A (West Monroe, Neville, Ouachita, Ruston, and Bastrop) football in NELA is not as strong as it once was, BUT a former member of that district has represented in a state title game in all but *one year since the 70s, I believe. *(with more research, it may have been every year for the last 30+ years)
Coaches from south Louisiana would come and watch WM practice and train, also. Apparently they took notes well.
Rocket would probably know more about this.
**I don't know much about NWLA football except for Evangel.

When you consider the population difference North Louisiana football is more impressive, IMO....And I say that as a New Orleanian.

I think North LA produces more high quality athletes but I think overall the smarter football is played in South LA if that makes sense.

I agree that the North usually has more dominant teams in football. The south might have more depth.
Baseball, on the other hand, is owned by the South (mostly NO area).

Baseball is much the same situation that football is. The north has a few dominant programs as of late- calvary, evangel, OCS, sterlington, West Ouachita, and west monroe- but does not boast the depth that the south does.

first of all, south LA football teams best players never even get on the field because they have other shite to do. north LA kids have nothing else to do and the teams are stacked for whatever reason.

central LA is horrible. south LA seems to have more talent and better overall. THere are just a few power houses up north

I actually think I typed that without thinking it through very much. I was just going off being in 5A all through high school when it would be at least 4 NO teams in the state tourney and the rest from all over.

Northeast Louisiana is very strong, but other than that, south Louisiana rules the roost. Of course, there's a lot more population down here.

Per capita N Louisiana wins, but as of late South Louisiana wins.

South LA has a lot more talent, but North LA tends to have better coaches. In North LA the talent seems to group together to make a few really good teams, which causes the others to be mediocre to bad.

3 of the last 5 5A champs are from the south my boy
3 of the last 5 4A champs are from the south

Yeah I cant agree with you there. I think the depth in the South may be better but as far as top-end D1 talent the North definitely leads. However, I think teams in the South on average are better coached and you see therefore see more cohesive play. I think thats why you see South LA teams winning state championships despite the top o the line talent that the Northern teams have.

No way. Look at all the NFL players. They all come from the south

Well yeah historically the South has dominated the D1 talent pool but I think the trend in the past 5 years or so is towards North LA. I see where you are coming from though.
And on your previous point, the South has pretty much owned 3A for awhile.

Only because Bastrop was DQ. we all know who the on field battle.
Also, West Monroe and Evangel have beat up on each other for years. But like it was stated per capita NORTH wins.
