I have no idea how good this kid is. If he can't get noticed by academies in the states and has a very raw game, then this decision isn't the smartest financially. However if he didn't really like football and really wants to concentrate on soccer, then go for it, kid. Good luck.

I understand he can make more money and for a longer period of time with soccer as a profession, but sadly he is already too old to be getting into soccer if he wants to make it professionally. The truly great ones get snatched up by a club by 10-12. Idk what to say about this though haha Good luck to him.

Yeah, being a good athlete in soccer is different than a good athlete in football. Soccer requires a lot of finesse and skill that is developed over 10+ years as a youth where as football requires natural strength and athleticism over finesse.

So if this kid hasn't had the academy training, not sure why he'd be pursuing this route.

I heard he's not even that good at soccer

He's got worlds of ability, i.e. can run fast, but has never been a part of BRSA's select soccer program, so he's got zero experience tactically and strategically in how to actually play the game.

No way this guy makes it to the professional ranks as a soccer player if he wasn't playing all the time growing up. It just doesn't happen like in other sports

Is there a possibility that his mom didn't want him to play football due to concussion issues?

I don't understand the need to rag on the kid if he chooses soccer

Yeah, but he was a better soccer player than he was a football player.

id really like to know what this is all about. when i met him over the summer he seemed like he was 100% football all the way! he even gave me some info that will rock the recruiting world next season if all goes well....Im shocked actually!

Id bet 10 to 1 that its a situation where he just doesn't want to play for that coach

For all those flaming this kid for making a decision as far as his passion because you feel like he would be a great recruit for LSU, its ridiculous. He said he wanted to concentrate on soccer this year, nothing he said precluded him from playing football down the line.

He's a 17 year old kid who owes no one on this site anything. He does not need to explain his decision to anybody on this site, and for all you people saying he sucks at soccer bc your booty hurt that he might not come to LSU, you are the bottom of the bucket.

I've always wondered if being Lester Earl's son meant that LSU would never offer him. Given that talented receiver depth is not a problem, not much to lose by giving the f you to old Lester.

I don't know anything for a fact, but I would be very surprised if his (American) football days are done. He didn't really like his new school, so maybe there was some sort of falling out there?

I'll be shocked if this lasts. Most kids devoted to soccer are in some sort of youth clubs well before his age
