who has/had the better arm coming out of high school

I think shepard will by the time he is done. He had been working so hard to improve. I think Jeff Blake is the one who is coaching him.

Experts have said Shep...I tend to agree

I agree...Pryor at this point has no arm to speak of.
But Shep seems a lot more raw in the poise department as of now

According to the experts, Shep is "further along" as a passer right now than Pryor was at this point last year. Take that fwiw...
Don't know if that means much about arm strength

Pryor definetly has a steadiness to him and the aw factor that makes even his own teammates get off the bench to see what he is going to next. I think Sheppard will have that too, but we will have to wait to see. As for poise, I got to watch his ESPNU game, and he threw the ball better then I expected. He stood extremely tall in the pocket and even made some nice progression throws. It was just one game, but the boy looked "damn strong" for his national exposure.

Shepard trained privately alongside steve clarkson and blake
Pryor was in the session over the summer with clarskson, and accounts i got back from people in attendace was that Shep was the most athletic person there, and had the arm to take his game above pryors.
Huge difference in size though. Pryor is just a different type of threat with that huge body.

I was just about to say this.
So if he's even with Pryor on ability to run, but a better passer...why isn't he the #1 prospect in the nation?

Pryor has the better arm....

Pryor has the stronger arm at this point, not the better arm. Pryor can fling it further down the field, don't know if that counts for anything though.
Shep is quicker and more elusive in the open field. They probably have near or the same top end speed as well.
Who know's who will develop further down the line, Pryor could emulate Vince Young and in fact eventually pass him. Shep, who knows.

I just finished watching Sheps game on ESPNU and he did a lot better than I expected. He hit WRs in stride and his passes were on a rope.

Seen both throw in person, on pure arm strength I gotta go with shep.

Pryor reminds me of Matt Jones.

No I'm happy as can be to have Pryor, but I am not a huge fan of his arm as of now. We haven't really seen it, which tends to make me believe it isn't that great. Hopefully I'm proven wrong this weekend and going forward.
I would take Pryor over Shep for that fact that, as stated, he is huge and just is a physical type of freak athlete

quote:Well Ill take my boy Shep, hes also a freak and has a better arm. Plus i think being small can be an asset, Shep is more agile and quick than Pryor will ever be.
