One has to factor in that the staff (Cam) is staying in contact with Franks. And part of the reason they are happy with him is that he's been working hard.

It is interesting he is announcing On Mardi Gras day when all of louisiana will be focused on mich better things

Exactly what I was thinking, thought he was gone before when I saw that date I definitely feel it is a done deal to Ole Piss. Crappy thing is Shea is the QB style Miles needs, a pro-style QB that can actually tuck it and run if need be. But no we keep recruiting and signing the QB's that don't fit our system. Go figure!!!!!!

Felipe Franks is exactly the kind of QB who fits this system. You don't know what you're talking about.

If Ole Miss is truly giving Sean an offensive coaching position to land Shea, they better make sure keeping the Patterson family happy is a very high priority. I remember when Arkansas brought Malzahnin to get his stud recruits, the whole thing blew up in the coaching staffs face and cost them all their jobs eventually (and ironically, Malzahn was actually the best recruit of them all).

Right. He seems to be exactly the type of QB we're looking for.

Right. Even though most realize he isn't coming to LSU, some will melt down anyway. We've got a damn good QB committed, if Shea comes..great. If not, we've still got a top 50 player committed at the QB position

Seriously. Patterson turns this board into the Rant. Anything started about this subject gets dirty in a hurry.

Never gonna happen. Russell/Randall, Flynn/perrilloux, JJ/JL, aj/Harris, whoevers next and whoevers after that too.

I think winning will change that.

They melt over a HS player who hasn't even played one snap in college.

Teams aren't built around one player and rarely need one player to compete for championships.

Championship teams are built on a nucleus of talent molded by leaders.

Whatever happens to LSU in the next 4 years will hardly depend on 1 player...

That would be logical.

This place has turned into anything but that.

A (casual football) guy at work asked me if LSU was recruiting a QB (since I'm apparently his only source of LSU news) and I showed him for the first time youtube highlights of Franks, Haskins, and Patterson.

I told him Franks is a Florida boy who has been adamant in his commitment to LSU for over a year, Maryland prospect Haskins was very interested in LSU, and Patterson was a TX carpet-bagger in Shreveport who might sign with Ole Miss b/c of his brother's situation, but still interested in LSU.

I asked him who did he want? He said "Franks. Cuz he wants to be a Tiger."

When I pressed him for his unbiased opinion on whose footage looked the best, he said Patterson. He said "He throws like Drew Brees."

Interdasting!! I wish Shea the best in his decision - I hope he decides to be Tiger and if not, he is Tiger Bait!!

While I agree with the addage that NO one player makes a team, a very good quarterback can make an average team better and an above average team a championship contender.

Shea is going to ole miss with is brother. Get over it. It's not that big a deal. Keeping Franks is a big deal. Getting top notch LBers bad Dlineman in this cycle is a big deal.

Not getting a qb committ when you already have the #1 dual threat qb committed is not detrimental to the program.

I was not at all impressed with Franks highlight tape. Every pass was a Jenningesque rainbow. Patterson is on a completely different level. If we lose patterson then we really need to get the qb from Maryland.
