This is refreshing...an in-state kid gets the offer he's waiting for from his home state school and jumps on it like it is a dream come true. He does it through patience and hard work and when his time comes, he doesn't hesitate.

We need more of this type of player. I love seeing the comments from friends and family members. You can just tell that this is one young man who'll lay it on the line for the purple and gold. Again, welcome aboard Mr. Martin! This is the good stuff in recruiting!!

To add to this sentiment, I'm very surprised and proud of the reaction on here. The SAME thing happened last year with Blackmon and the board exploded in anger. Seems like the board has really turned around this year.

How are these 2 situations similar?

Kid from a tiny school in a tiny town, West Monroe has more students than White Castle's population, shows out at LSU camp and gets an offer. Kid jumps on offer and immediately accepts. Martin isn't ranked yet by Rivals at all, although he does atleast have a page while Blackmon didn't.

Martin's Rivals' Page

In state, good stats, and good film.

Blackmon had none of that.

Blackmon wasn't nearly as impressive as Martin is, not sure what you don't agree with.

You guys are obviously missing the point. Where are the normal dipshits complaining about this kid because he has no stars etc etc. Les Miles obviously is just reaching in the dark. Just another reaon to fire Les Miles etc etc. You can probably bet if his family wasn't posting in this thread, they'd be all over the place.

Its a good story for these small town LA kids to get a shot. The pride not only resonates within his family but the entire town. These small towns across LA are always looking for something to be prideful about.

Regardless, it appears he has the tools. He has his shot and the rest is up to him. If he comes into LSU and has discipline and works hard in and out of the classroom, he will be successful.

If he feels like his work is done now he will follow a long line of athletes who dont reach their potential. The difference between being successful or not making it in the college environment is about self discipline and self motivation.

Can't blame the coach for everyone who flames out.

he may not be the highest level recruit but its his work ethic that sets him apart...i remember when hill and lael got the ball rolling and committed, ronald was reading the paper that morning and he told everyone of his friends at school that he'd be in that class before signing day and this was before he was getting any attention at all for football...kid was determined and its just a good story
