Recruiting explanation sought?

First off, what is our number that we can take max this year? Seems like with the sign-and-place (Brandon Martin, for example) we should go over 25 right?
What is the explanation for why we never bring in max and fill in with 3 star-types and take a shot with them? What is the worst that could happen there?

Not sure the true number this year but it has been said that we can go over 25. As usual it may not matter if we can or cant.
As for the taking lower on the board guys just to fill space, they take space from future classes with bigger and different needs. 25x4 is 100 and we can only carry 85 so the staff has to balance the space with players they truly believe can help the program

If I were the new coach taking over LSU right now, I see 8-10 on the roster that I would help relocate to a school that they could compete at...like Shorty did at Bama when he took over...we need those scholarships for players that can play on SEC level...sorry to be hard- hearted but this is a business and that's the real world out there

It's coming. Happens every year. Problem is that we usually end up losing a kid or 2 we didn't want to. Happens everywhere. Bama just gets most of the ire from those opposed.

Les was too soft-hearted and kept guys that could not get the job done...that didn't help the player or the program...time to move on so I will do just that...lol

If memory serves me correctly, 3 early enrollees will count as 2016 signings since the class was light last season and they'll be enrolled before EOY. So that three plus an allocated 25 would put us at technically 28 recruits this cycle. If they sign light again, next year's early enrollees count towards the 2017 class, and so on.
