according to this article. I did not realize that. He looks good on tape; pretty nimble for a kid his size.

The 6'6", 305-pound Glendale Community College (Arizona) product picked up an offer from LSU earlier this month. Les Miles was among a collection of coaches in pursuit of the promising prospect.

Domond also holds offers from Florida, Wisconsin, Miami and Oklahoma State, among others.

He is rated No. 1 nationally among JUCO offensive tackles and No. 10 overall at that level in 247Sports' composite rankings. Domond, a 4-star talent, played just one year of high school football, per NOLA.com reporter James Smith.

He has 3 years of eligibility left, doesn't he?

Yes, 3 years. I guess he's redshirting this year because I haven't seen him in either game.

Yeah heard he is redshirting. Should give us some good bodies for next year especially with this recruiting class coming in

At the time he committed to LSU, he was the #1 rated 2015 JUCO OT. He reclassified to 2014 and wouldn't have been the top rated for that class, probably around 5 or 6. You can't even find a rating for him on 247 now because his reclassification messed it up.

This article has a little more info on Domond redshirting this year. Should definitely compete for a starting position in 2015.

He sounds a bit like Kevin Spears regarding experience except he is older. If he has 3 years to play 2 as the article stated, definite red shirt type. We had an extra scholly when he showed up in the summer so why not. Hopefully Grimes will coach him up and we will see. A 300 pounder playing Hockey, I would like to see that, but he may have been much younger when skating.

Think he's got 4 to play 3 , as he was a full qualifier out of HS.

He wasn't a full qualifier; not because of grades, but due to not having all the requisite core courses. His remaining eligibility is somewhat of a mystery. When he signed it was widely reported that he had 3 to play 3.

The only way to get to this number is if he already redshirted. But as we have seen there are articles that report he could redshirt. Are they making assumptions or do they know facts?

Some have said he spent only one year at Glendale, but here is a quote from their site:

quote:

Football coach Jason Jewell, who has coached Domond during the two years he has played at GCC,

Is this because he really has played two years there, or were they anticipating this year? I don't know and I can't find any records either way, but the guy is old enough. If his birth date is correct on the LSU roster, he is 21 now and will turn 22 in Dec. My guess is 3 to play 3 is correct, but I am in no way certain that is correct.

With his age and maturity, why hasn't he impressed more?

Domond hasn't played much football really, and contrary to how it's referred to OL takes a lot of acquired skill. This spring will be more telling.

To be honest, I'm not sure where he is in regards to his active status. I don't think he's eligible to play right now, but I could be wrong.
