and instead want to trust the opinions of a bunch of guys that are not coaches and likely have never coached at the collegiate level, and that halfway evaluate some of the H.S. talent, then we (LSU) have got no use for you. Go somewhere else.

People who disregard the statistical validity of recruiting rankings are the internet equivalent of the leathery old scouts in Moneyball, shaking their jowls and pounding their fists on the table and yelling "This newfangled matheematics ain't got no place in baseball! I'll go with my gut!" Dinosaurs.

Except you have a few things working against you, guy. First, the experts are not really experts, and are more likely to be wowed by traits that may not necessarily translate at the next level. See, e.g. Chris Davenport. Second, and this has been widely discussed, they don't see all (for it would be almost impossible) of the film. Third, the ranking system and the difference between a 5 star and a 4 star is sort of like the difference between the AL MVP and an All Star game starter (on merit). Finally, they don't account for things like injuries. So no, it's not like that at all.

Let's continue this conversation in 3 or 4 years.
1 class isn't going to ding us much.

If this is what recruiting is going to look like going forward, it will be more like Hallman than DiNardo.
