RB Depth and Recruiting: we need help for '18 and even '17 if we have injuries

Guice: will be a junior and barring injury, 2017 will be last year
D. Williams: will be a senior
Brossette: will be a junior; not sure how good he is as he hasn't played much
Fournette: he got a scholly becuase of his bro, can't really count on him for any production
Ducre: will be a junior and although a fullback, will be pressed to play RB based on depth
The lack of depth is quite alarming. I can't believe no big time RB's are seeing this.

We will be fine. We will most likely get two this year and one next year. Clyde is highly underrated. You can take 3 star backs and make them look like All American's behind a great Oline and an unpredictable offense.

Calm down.
Fournette has speed and while he would have almost definitely been misused under Miles, he is now in an offense where his primary skill is an asset. Mark it down. He won't be a star, but he will be an effective player under Canada.
Same for Ducre. We took a good power RB with straight line speed, and tried to make him a blocking FB. Go watch some of Canada's offense at Pitt this year and tell me Ducre can't be a weapon.
Under Miles, RBs were either made to fit the system, or languished on the bench or transferred. Now we have an OC with a track record of fitting the offense to the skills of his players, and no Les Miles handcuffs. He's going to use all of these guys, and put them in position to make plays.

If the plan is to rely on lil fournette and ducre then we should be worried. Neither is an SEC caliber RB - especially an LSU caliber RB.
Brossette, while a highly rated recruit, hasnt really shown anything yet. That could be because he hasnt really had the opportunity to get the reps yet.
2017 Season will be Guice and Brossette. Not much depth there.
2018 Season will be Brossette and ???? Hopefully Ettienne and CEH.
2019 Season is Ettienne, CEH, and a recruit from 2018.
OP is catching downvotes for telling the truth. Depth at RB right now is an issue, and will require attention. While I've always been in the camp of LSU will always be fine at RB, that doesnt mean we can take it for granted. Ettiene is a MUST get now. 2018 we MUST get another high caliber RB. And to top it off, if Guice goes down next year - we might be in deep water.

I never said they would be starting backs. What we need this coming year is depth, and with them, Williams, and Brossette, CEH, and hopefully Etienne, we will have it.
My point was to not go off of the fact that we didn't see much of either player to this point. We NEVER used smaller backs very well under Miles, and Ducre was never cut out for the role the last staff stuck him in. He is a running back, not a Miles fullback.
We are going to run a different offense that uses a variety of backs in different roles. Those two guys happen to fit a couple of those roles. I'm not saying they our ultimate success hinges on them. Rather, I'm saying don't count them out as throw-always just yet. If Miles were still here, I would agree with you. With Canada, I say keep an open mind.
If there are two guys I wonder about in this new scheme, they are Williams and Mouton. Moore isn't going anywhere, and is a very smart player. He may even end up a TE, but I think he stays. However, I wonder if a Mouton-sized FB will have a major role in Canada's offense. We are going to be using a lot more motion and attacking the edges, rather than battering away at the middle like under Miles. Does Mouton fit that role? Hard to say until Spring.
As for Williams, he is a solid power back, but has less straight-line speed than Ducre and is just limited running laterally. There is a reason his playing time declined, even though he was the kind of back that Miles always liked. Being that he is a senior, I could see him taking the grad-transfer route if he falls down the depth chart in Spring.
We'll know a lot more after the Spring. For all the depth arguments here, you can bet that not all of these guys will be here at the start of Fall camp next year. That shake-out starts as the depth chart forms in Spring. I would expect at least one guy to be gone after that, if not two.

He doesn't have much but one thing he definitely doesn't have is speed. If sees the field at LSU in a meaningful way we are likely in trouble.

You're going to sit here and entertain the thought that relying on those two alone is the plan?

That was in direct reply to a post spouting the virtues of those two.
