1st, the notion that we don't need a QB in the class. I don't get how some think we don't need one. Jennings has passed Rivers at this point and that leads me,, and many others, to believe he's probably gonna bolt. That leaves just Jennings and Retiig on the roster after this season. Even if Rivers stays to backup Jennings, what's to say Rettig doesn't bolt after a year or 2? When these questions are viable and possibilities to happen, you need a QB in the class. Haven't we all learned from the JJ/JL experience that you need as many options as possible at QB? A QB is needed in every class. The thought that the staff at one time was looking at 2 QBs in the class should tell you that 1 is an absolute must.

As for Harris, I think we land him but I'm not a huge fan of the kid. He's a top talent with a cannon and athletic ability but I just don't see the leadership abilities that are necessary. Could be I'm just turned off by his cockiness and seemingly "me 1st" attitude. I want to land him because our options are short now and because he's an instate kid but if we lose him those are the only 2 reasons I'd be disappointed. I like Brandon Dawkins better overall.

If I'm Harris and Baylor is sincere about me and willing to take me(Randall Cunningham has always been their top guy), I look very hard at them. Briles has proven what he can do with Harris' skillset. Moreso than Malzhan imo. Malzhan had 1 big year with a special QB. What have his other QBs done? Kiehl Fraizer is as talented, or more, as Harris and he is a complete mess. I don't get the whole Malzhan genius thing.

Magilla and I tried to tell LSU fans, more specifically memphisplaya, that Stephen Rivers only got a scholarship because of his last name. He wasn't SEC quarterback material.

Nope, we'll still have Bolden for another year after this.

He is for the wildcat spread offense he basically created or sparked popularity in. Great for college game. Used sparingly in the pros. Harris would no doubt have a great college career at Auburn. But that doesn't really translate to the NFL. Cam Newton is a once a decade type of freak, but he's also had plenty of trouble transition to the pros.

Having Cameron and running a more pro style offense gives us a heavy edge in that department

I agree we should get a QB in this class if possible. As far as the whole cockiness thing. I don't get you saying this? Just asking if you have ever met Harris or been around him? Do you know him on a personal basis? Sometimes these recruits get a bad rap for no other reason than they may not want come to LSU. Tyrann Mathieu was one of the most flamboyant and cocky players I have ever seen on a college football field. Fans loved him as long as he was on their team. The minute a player goes somewhere else or expresses interest somewhere else he is trash or cocky. This is one of the reasons I have told parents of recruits who come on this board not to volunteer any info other than the minimum when it comes to their son and the recruiting process.

When Harris started to try to manipulate the press on his recruitment, I think one could fairly conclude he is a bit cocky.

We've also seen what happens when you have too many. Hell, many of the people who swear that we have to take one in this class are the same ones that are saying that some of our current QBs may bolt because they can't get on the field. It's definitely a balance. I do believe that we should take one QB per class, but only if they are talented enough to warrant the scholarship.

If Coach Cam puts together a passer friendly offense this year and we get the WR haul in 14 that everyone expects, LSU will have no trouble landing a solid QB or two in 15.

He's not a must get. I mean he's a talented QB no doubt but I truly think Jennings and Rettig are better.

A talented, versatile HS QB recruit choosing between Gus Malzahn and Les Miles.... Hmmm
Living up to your screen name again, I see. How about Malzahn and Cameron? Would you like to compare the development of Chris Todd to Joe Flacco? Drew Brees and Philip Rivers to Kiehl Frazier?

Malzahn coached Todd and Frazier for one year apiece. How could he develop them?

And LSU fans, yall keep saying you only have Rettig, Jennings, and Rivers next year. What happened to that Randall guy? Did he transfer?

I couldn't think of number 15's name. Mosely? I was pointing out that what nitwit said, choosing between Miles and Malzahn is stupid. Miles isn't the QB Coach.

Gus Malzahn and Les? No.... He's choosing LSU or Auburn. He either wants to play second fiddle in the state of Alabama or compete for the SEC and national championships at LSU.

He's stated he's not scared of competition. We will see

Consistency over the recent history? AU bought a tarnished natty for a year, no one gives much value to AU's program after that fiasco.

I once heard a former LSU coach say that sometimes it's not the recruits that you don't sign, but it's the ones that you do that set the program back.

If Harris signs with Auburn it will be because of Malzahn (and Dameyune Craig, who is an excellent recruiter).
If he signs with LSU it will be DESPITE Les's reputation with offenses and QB;'s in particular.
You can argue with Harris' choices, but he would not be "stupid" to pick Auburn under these circumstances. Until Les shows he will allow Cam to run his own show, the questions about Les and the LSU passing game will persist.
